Fantasy Football Injury Reports For Week 6 (Friday Updates): Deshaun Watson, Saquon Barkley, Mike Evans, Jordan Addison, more

Mike Evans - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Fantasy football injury updates and injury reports for RB, WR, TE, QB for Week 6 (2023), as of 10/13, including Deshaun Watson, Saquon Barkley, Mike Evans, Jordan Addison, and more.

Week 6 is here, and many fantasy managers are starting to enter must-win matchups to turn their seasons around. As always, untimely injuries can derail those hopes. Our injury updates and reports for Week 6 as of Friday, October 13 will give you the latest updates on key guys.

As always, some players have more "real" risk of missing Week 6 than others, but things change quickly, so it's important to stay up to date. Deshaun Watson, Saquon Barkley, Mike Evans, Jordan Addison, and more are in danger of missing Week 6. Fantasy managers should be ready to pivot should things go south.

To keep close tabs on all of the news across the NFL, make sure to favorite or bookmark the fantasy football player news page, or download the free RotoBaller fantasy football mobile app with push notification alerts on all the latest news. Let's look at the updates for some top fantasy assets at all positions and see whether they may play in Week 6.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Deshaun Watson Injury Update

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder) has officially been ruled out for Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. P.J. Walker will make the start instead with Watson missing his second straight game. Watson is dealing with a rotator-cuff contusion in his right shoulder, and last week's bye wasn't enough time for him to gain clearance to return this weekend.

Fantasy managers should consider the 28-year-old signal-caller questionable for next week's game versus Colts in Indianapolis. With Walker getting the start over rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson in Week 6 against the nasty defense of the 49ers, all of Cleveland's offensive skill players should be downgraded significantly in terms of their fantasy upside. Walker will be nothing more than a desperation low-end QB2 in superflex leagues.

Saquon Barkley Injury Update

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) has been given yet another questionable designation heading into Sunday night's game on the road in Buffalo against the Bills. Barkley was limited in practice all week again and will most likely be a true game-time decision in Week 6. The 26-year-old has not played since suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 2 and he'll be extremely risky as a bust candidate this weekend if he's active.

Not only will Barkley face the prospect of having his snaps limited, but New York's terrible offensive line is still missing key pieces, and quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) has already been ruled out. Oh, and the matchup against Buffalo is not a good one. If Barkley misses yet another game, expect Matt Breida and rookie Eric Gray to share most of the backfield touches.

Mike Evans Injury Update

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (hamstring) is a full-go for the Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Evans missed practice on Wednesday, was limited on Thursday and returned to a full practice on Friday, setting him up to play without restrictions this weekend. The veteran pass-catcher tweaked his hamstring in the Week 4 win over the New Orleans Saints but had last week's bye to heal up.

He caught just three passes for 40 yards in the last game due to the hammy injury, but Evans had three straight games with a touchdown to begin the year and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups as quarterback Baker Mayfield's favorite target in 2023.

Jordan Addison Injury Update

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said that rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison (ankle) is good to go for the Week 6 tilt against the Chicago Bears on the road. This will be the first-rounder's first game since the Vikings put All-Pro wideout Justin Jefferson (hamstring) on Injured Reserve. Jefferson could miss more than the required for games on IR, too, so Addison will have a decent stretch to cement himself as the team's top pass-catcher, beginning this Sunday in a great matchup against Chicago.

The 21-year-old was limited on Wednesday and Thursday in practice before being a full-go on Friday, so he shouldn't have any limitations on game day. Addison is basically a must-start now with Jefferson sidelined.

Sam LaPorta Injury Update

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta (calf) is officially questionable to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6. The Iowa product has been impressive to start in his NFL career and is behind only Travis Kelce in total fantasy points among tight ends (all scoring formats).

He's a must-start option if active. If not, Brock Wright will serve as the primary tight end for Jared Goff. He'd have value in deep leagues, but fantasy managers might want to look for LaPorta's replacement on the waiver wire.

Tee Higgins Injury Update

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins (ribs) will be listed as questionable for the Week 6 contest versus the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Head coach Zac Taylor said Higgins will be a game-time decision. Higgins fractured a rib in Week 4 and didn't play in the Week 5 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

The Bengals are optimistic about the 24-year-old's status this weekend, and the good news for fantasy managers is they will know right away on Sunday morning as to whether Higgins will be active.

Tyler Boyd probably won't be worth a flex play if Higgins returns to the lineup, and Higgins himself will be extra risky as well if he returns. He does have 129 receiving yards and two touchdowns in four games so far, but he's caught only 12 of his 32 targets and hasn't looked in sync with quarterback Joe Burrow.

Jeff Wilson Jr. Injury Update

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (finger, ribs) has officially been named doubtful for their upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers. The team doesn't have much of a reason to rush Wilson back to the field despite the fact that De'Von Achane (knee) won't be playing. Raheem Mostert has enjoyed a great season so far and Salvon Ahmed has done well as a backup so far.

So, it looks like they'll probably wait at least one more week to activate Wilson off of IR and allow Mostert and Ahmed to control the backfield. His next chance to play will be against the Eagles in Week 7.

Jahmyr Gibbs Injury Update

Detroit Lions rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) has officially been ruled out of Sunday's contest against the Buccaneers. The rookie has taken a back seat to David Montgomery in every game that both of them have been active for, but with Gibbs sitting out another game, Montgomery's value increases even more. Without the necessary opportunities, Gibbs hasn't been able to fulfill his potential just yet.

Until he wins over the coaching staff a little more or Montgomery can't suit up, Gibbs' ceiling will be limited. His next chance to play will be against the Ravens in Week 7.

Miles Sanders Injury Update

The Carolina Panthers have ruled out running back Miles Sanders (shoulder) for the Week 6 game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday due to his shoulder injury. Sanders had been dealing with a nagging groin injury for most of this year, but it hadn't kept him from being active on game days. He will now miss his first game of 2023 and cede lead-back duties to Chuba Hubbard, who has been more efficient than Sanders anyway through the first five weeks.

Hubbard will now have RB2 upside in fantasy this week, although poor game script against the high-flying Dolphins could be an issue if the Panthers are forced to abandon the run early. Sanders is averaging a poor 3.1 yards per carry and could find himself behind Hubbard before long if Hubbard continues to outplay him.

Daniel Jones Injury Update

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) has been ruled out for Week 6 and will not play on Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills, according to head coach Brian Daboll. Jones suffered a neck injury in the Week 5 loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Giants and Jones were optimistic that he wouldn't have to miss any time, but that didn't turn out to be the case and he was held out of practice all week.

It's a different injury than what Jones has dealt with in the past with his neck, but it remains to be seen if he'll be ready to suit up in Week 7 against the Washington Commanders on Oct. 22. With Jones down, Tyrod Taylor will serve as New York's starter under center in a tough matchup against the Bills. We'd suggest avoiding all of New York's offensive skill players in fantasy, if possible.

Roschon Johnson Injury Update

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson (concussion) has officially been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Minnesota Vikings. Now that he and Khalil Herbert (ankle) won't be playing, D'Onta Foreman should be moving up to the number-one option in the backfield after a few healthy scratches in games prior.

As of right now, Khari Blasingame and Darrynton Evans are on the roster behind him if Travis Homer (hamstring) can't give it a go as well. Foreman would be a flex option at best as the Bears backfield has already been unreliable.
