Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo had an amazing breakout in the second half of his rookie season last year.

From Week 9 of 2022 through Week 18, Okonkwo scored double-digit PPR points four times. Over that period, he finished as the overall TE10, and he finished as high as TE3 in Week 14. Okonkwo finished 2022 with the fourth-highest receiving grade of any tight end in PFF and the highest of any rookie tight end.

We've seen some tight ends pop up their rookie year and then come down to earth the next year, like fantasy favorite Kyle Pitts. Four weeks into 2022, Chig Okonkwo is looking the same. Should you cut Chigoziem Okonkwo from your fantasy team?

Is Chigoziem Okonkwo A Good Fantasy Football Tight End?

Tight ends are fickle creatures in fantasy football. One year, Chigoziem Okonkwo is scoring touchdowns in multiple weeks and making ten catches in the span of two games. The next year, he opens the season with a zero-catch showing.

Okonkwo hasn't recovered from the nothing-burger. He only caught 10 passes in the next three games for 71 yards. In Week 3, he couldn't even gain double-digit yards, as he only went for seven yards on three catches. That's 2.33 yards per reception.

One problem for the second-year tight end is the poor play of Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill, who is 35 years old and in the final year of his contract, has only completed 62.0% of his passes, his lowest completion percentage since he was a Miami Dolphin in 2015.

Tannehill has also thrown four drive-ending interceptions, which makes his interception rate (3.7%) the highest in his career, while his touchdown rate is the lowest of his career. It's no wonder Okonkwo can't make an impact when the Titan's passing game is so bad.

Can I Drop Chigoziem Okonkwo in Fantasy Football?

You should drop Chig Okonkwo and sign a more productive tight end. There are some tight ends who have scored significantly more fantasy points than Okonkwo who are probably available on your waiver wire. Your choices might include the Atlanta Falcons' Jonnu Smith, the Seahawks' Noah Fant, the Jets' Tyler Conklin, the Commanders' Logan Thomas, and the Dolphins' Durham Smythe.

Tight ends come and go. There will always be a group of mid-tier tight ends available on the waiver wire. While it is possible Okonkwo will start playing better later, you can always add him back from the waiver wire then.

Should I Start Chigoziem Okonkwo in Week 5?

No, you shouldn't start Okonkwo in Week 5. In all likelihood, he doesn't even warrant a spot on your roster.

The Tennessee Titans face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5. The Colts rank in the middle of the pack when it comes to fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends. They have 234 yards to tight ends, the seventh-most, but they haven't allowed a single touchdown to a tight end yet.

The Titans have been inept at scoring. They rank fifth-to-last when it comes to scoring touchdowns. It is unlikely Okonkwo will be the first tight end to score on the Colts.
