Welcome to the Week 4 edition of RotoBaller's XFL DFS Bargain Bin, where the goal is to touch on some potentially mispriced players in DraftKings' Week 4 XFL contests. Each week during the XFL 2023 season and postseason, I’ll give you my thoughts on where there may be some value spots to exploit for DraftKings' wide array of tournaments and cash games. After you're done here, be sure to also read all our other weekly XFL fantasy football articles.

The XFL's quality of play seems to be getting better with each passing week, and the roles for certain players appear to be increasingly solidified. As such, this is a week where we have an increased amount of confidence with respect to our DFS selections, and it's especially encouraging that we continue find bargain-salaried players in the league's two most prolific offenses, those of the Roughnecks and Sea Dragons.

DraftKings' XFL DFS rosters largely mirror that of NFL contests, with a notable exception – there is no TE-specific spot, but rather two WR/TE spots and two additional Flex spots that can be filled with a running back, wide receiver, or tight end.

XFL DFS Bargain Bin Intro

Before we go XFL DFS Bargain Bin hunting, a few particulars about format and content.

The nature of the beast with value plays is at least a modest amount (and sometimes substantially more) of risk. Therefore, the Bargain Bin may prove to be a bit more of a rollercoaster ride on some slates than your typical “tout” article! Naturally, that doesn’t mean there isn’t an upside to be had. All of these selections are therefore suitable for GPPs and can also often serve as solid cash game plays, while often helping you accommodate multiple higher-priced studs into your lineup.

This article is by no means intended to serve as an exhaustive list of all value options for the week. Rather, it’s meant to take a deeper dive into those I feel offer some of the best combinations of savings and upside.

The goal is to recommend truly affordable players, as opposed to, say, a player priced just $300-$400 away from the highest-priced option at his position. I don’t have set-in-stone price limits in mind for each site, but I do consider legitimate affordability a very important criterion.

XFL Quarterback DFS Value Plays              

Jack Coan, SA at SEA | $8,200

Coan will likely see his roster rate take a hit this week after his abysmal Week 3 performance against the Roughnecks' aggressive defense, but the matchup is softer this week.

Coan looked more than capable over the first two games of the season while compiling 11.3 and 22.9 DK points, and he now faces a Sea Dragons squad that's likely to force a certain degree of aggression from San Antonio's offense due to its pass-centric style and capabilities on that side of the ball.

Seattle also just surrendered 224 passing yards and two touchdowns to a quarterback still getting acclimated to his team's system in the Vipers' Brett Hundley, and they also yielded another 66 yards and a score on the ground to the veteran signal-caller.

XFL Running Back DFS Value Plays   

Brian Hill, STL vs. ARL | $6,600

Hill entered Week 3 on somewhat shaky ground after dealing with a hamstring issue that caused a Week 2 absence, but he made an impact with 81 total yards and a receiving touchdown. The NFL veteran now has 11.1 and 18.1 DK points in the two games he's played, with the latter tally especially impressive relative to his still-modest salary.

The Renegades have played solid defense overall during the first three weeks, but with the Battlehawks passing game seemingly getting better with each passing week, Arlington's defense should be kept honest with the threat of A.J. McCarron and his pass catchers.

Ryquell Armstead, DC vs. VGS | $4,300

Armstead has rather quietly carved out a nice niche as a complementary option to Abram Smith, amassing 109 total yards on the ground over the last two games on 26 carries. Defenders head coach Reggie Barlow has shown a tendency to rely heavily on the ground attack through the first three weeks overall, and considering quarterback Jordan Ta'amu is also quite the rushing threat, it tends to open things up for the team's running backs.

The Vipers also proved highly vulnerable against the run in the Week 3 loss to the Sea Dragons, allowing Morgan Ellison to gain 103 yards at a clip of 6.1 yards per carry before he exited the game with a leg injury. Therefore, Armstead, who is also as serviceable receiver out of the backfield, could certainly deliver a strong return on investment.

XFL Wide Receiver DFS Value Plays      

Blake Jackson, SEA vs. SA | $7,500

Naturally, plenty of attention will be given in DFS circles to Jackson's position mates Josh Gordon and Jahcour Pearson, and deservedly so. However, Jackson has also been a key piece of Seattle's aggressive air attack, averaging 12 DK points per contest over the first three games on the strength of a 18-121-1 line across a robust 22 targets.

Jackson should continue to be the recipient of plenty of quarterback Ben DiNucci's attention, and he could be in good position to deliver once again against a Brahmas defense that was touched up by a very similar Roughnecks attack in Week 3 and allowed Houston QB Brandon Silvers to compile 278 passing yards and three passing TDs in the process.

Jalen Tolliver, SA at SEA | $6,200

Tolliver is a solid veteran with experience in both XFL 2.0 and the CFL that appeared to be building strong rapport with his quarterback Jack Coan over the first two weeks before a groin injury made him a Week 3 non-factor. However, Tolliver had three receptions apiece in the first two games, also catching his first touchdown of the campaign in Week 2 on his way to 12.1 DK points.

As mentioned earlier, the Brahmas are likely to remain aggressive against the Sea Dragons considering the capabilities of Seattle's attack, and Tolliver, who's now clear of his injury after practicing this week, could be a primary beneficiary. The Sea Dragons did display some vulnerability to the pass in Week 3 versus the Vipers as noted earlier, and it's also worth keeping in mind Seattle's defense has been among the poorest at disrupting passers (four sacks, one interception).

Travell Harris, HOU at ORL | $5,300

Harris may continue to fly somewhat under the radar, but he makes for a highly appealing value to take a shot at in tournaments considering his solid role on the Roughnecks offense. The Washington State product returned from a one-game absence in Week 3 to post a 2-48 line on four targets, and he'd also generated a 5-48 line back in the opener.

Harris can play both a short-area or downfield role, and Houston's pass-happy ways should certainly help up the odds of another solid showing, at minimum. Harris didn't play in the Week 2 win over this same Guardians team, but the Roughnecks pass catchers averaged 12.4 yards per reception and recorded a pair of touchdown grabs in that contest.

ALSO CONSIDER: Tyler Vaughns, ARL at STL | $4,600

XFL Flex DFS Value Plays  

Cody Latimer, TE - ORL vs. HOU | $5,600

Latimer is listed as tight end on DK but actually functions as the Guardians' top wideout, and he'll check into Week 4 averaging an impressive 14.5 DK points per game in the first three weeks. The former Denver Bronco continues to unsurprisingly display impressive rapport with one-time NFL teammate Paxton Lynch, and he has no fewer than five receptions in any of his first three games.

Latimer's resume includes a five-catch, one-touchdown effort versus this same Roughnecks team back in Week 1, and although Houston made life absolutely miserable for the Brahmas passing attack in Week 3, Latimer is likely to still see a solid allotment of targets based on his body of work thus far.

Lucky Jackson, WR - DC vs. VGS | $4,700

The Defenders defense and running game have both overshadowed the team's inconsistent passing attack, which makes Jackson a particularly intriguing tournament bargain play this week. The Western Kentucky product as a 10-130 line through three games, recording four catches apiece in Weeks 1 and 3 and producing a season-best 89 receiving yards on a season-high seven targets in the latter.

The Vipers allowed nearly 400 passing yards to the Sea Dragons in Week 3 and surrendered a combined 18-261-3 line to Seattle's top receiving trio of Gordon, Pearson and Jackson, which certainly brightens Jackson's prospects as he continues to carve out a role as D.C.'s top wideout.
