DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/29/22): MLB DFS Lineups

Rafael Devers - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB DFS Picks, Betting Picks

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on September 29th, 2022. John Brubaker's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Thursday RotoBallers! This is John Brubaker dropping some of my favorite plays for today's slate. After a bit of a bigger slate last week relative to the weeks before, we're back to a smaller slate this afternoon, with a four-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel.

We don't have any slate differences though, which is always a good thing. That way I don't have to make selections that may be on one slate and not the other. I have big ideas for tonight's slate, so let's get right to it.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel at 1:10 pm on 9/29/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Ranger Suarez, PHI at CHC ($8,400 DK, $9,200 FD)

I'll start this afternoon's slate off with southpaw Ranger Suarez. As a Phillies fan, it's safe to say this series against the Cubs has been nothing short of frustrating as they look to make a push to the playoffs for the first time since 2011. They'll be sending Suarez to the mound today, who projects to a 3.97 xFIP and 25.91% strikeout rate. He'll look to limit hard contact and keep the ball on the ground, something he's been excellent at this season, and I feel most confident in him rather than other top arms like Lucas Giolito and Nathan Eovaldi today.

DraftKings Projection: 15.3

FanDuel Projection: 29.2

Jon Heasley, KC at DET ($7,100 DK, $7,200 FD)

If you're looking for a cheaper arm, take a look at Royals starter Jon Heasley. Heasley projects to a 4.21 xFIP, but just a 17.76% strikeout rate this afternoon. He does project to just 24.99% hard contact this afternoon, which is the primary reason I consider him viable today. It's worth noting that it's the third time Heasley is starting against the Tigers this month and struggled his last time out against them. However, the last time he pitched in Comerica, he tossed seven innings of two-run ball.

DraftKings Projection: 11.3

FanDuel Projection: 23.4

Also consider: Lucas Giolito, Nathan Eovaldi

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Rafael Devers - 3B, BOS vs. Mike Baumann ($5,900 DK, $4,000 FD)

As far as hitters go we'll start the slate off with Rafael Devers. Devers had a tough start to the second half of the season but has certainly picked it up as of late. He projects well against Baumann though, projecting to a 44.61% hard contact rate and .726 wOBA + ISO against his pitch types. He's also 2-2 with a double against the 27-year-old right hander.

DraftKings Projection: 10.5

FanDuel Projection: 13.8

Gunnar Henderson - SS, BAL vs. Nathan Eovaldi ($3,800 DK, $3,000 FD)

On the other side of the field, we'll take a look at rookie sensation Gunnar Henderson. Henderson won the Minor League Player of the Year award. He's played well since being called up to the big league club hitting .266 with four homers and a .828 OPS in 94 at-bats. He projects to a 43.51% hard contact rate and .693 wOBA + ISO against Nathan Eovaldi's pitch types. We never know what we're going to get with the Boston starter, but I certainly have my eye on some Baltimore bats this afternoon.

DraftKings Projection: 8.2

FanDuel Projection: 10.9

Michael Massey - 2B, KC  vs. Eduardo Rodriguez ($2,600 DK, $2,300 FD)

In terms of value, we'll take a look at Kansas City second baseman Michael Massey. It'll certainly come down to whether Massey will crack the starting lineup due to the platoon "disadvantage" but I don't think it would be wise for Kansas City to sit him. Massey projects to a 34.08% hard contact rate and a whopping .776 wOBA + ISO against the southpaw's pitch types, both numbers being more than enough for me to be confident in rostering Massey at his cheap price.

DraftKings Projection: 7.2

FanDuel Projection: 9.1

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Eloy Jimenez - OF, CWS vs. Louie Varland ($5,500 DK, $3,700 FD)

In terms of outfielders go, we can take a look at a few top guys, with Phillies such as Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber being viable options. I personally like Eloy Jimenez more than both of them today though. Jimenez has earned his expensive price tag, hitting .301 with a .868 in 276 at-bats this season. He projects to a 52.44% hard contact rate and .912 wOBA + ISO against Minnesota's starter Louie Varland's pitch types. While his projections are relatively low, his metrics rank among the top of all players today.

DraftKings Projection: 9.4

FanDuel Projection: 12.2

Anthony Santander - OF, BAL vs. Nathan Eovaldi ($4,300 DK, $3,400 FD)

I mentioned earlier that I'll be looking at Baltimore bats this afternoon, and if you're looking at Baltimore you have to look at Anthony Santander. While he's only hitting .208 in September, he's crushed ten homers and knocked in 15 RBIs in 25 games this month. He projects to a 43.9% hard contact rate and .720 wOBA + ISO against Eovaldi this afternoon.

DraftKings Projection: 8.8

FanDuel Projection: 11.6

Brandon Marsh - OF, PHI vs. Javier Assad ($2,100 DK, $2,200 FD)

For my final outfielder play of the day, we'll be seeking some value in Brandon Marsh against Cubs righty Javier Assad today. This will mark Brandon Marsh's 35th game as a Phillie, and he's hitting .287 with a .732 OPS since joining the Phils. He projects to a 32.55% hard contact rate and a .617 wOBA + ISO against the righty.

DraftKings Projection: 8

FanDuel Projection: 10.3

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Boston Red Sox vs. Mike Baumann

I'll start off with my favorite and the top-rated stack on the board for this afternoon's slate. The Red Sox rank tops in almost every category that I look at in terms of slate value against Orioles righty Mike Baumann. They've been very good against righties this season, ranking 10th in OPS (.725), 11th in wOBA (.316), and 16th in wRC+ (100).

Favorite Plays: Rafael Devers, Alex Verdugo, J.D. Martinez, Triston Casas, Rob Refsnyder

Baltimore Orioles vs. Nathan Eovaldi

Who doesn't love a game stack on a four-game slate, right? If only I could have recommended this Tuesday night when these teams combined for 21 runs in just five innings. While I don't anticipate a similar offensive output this afternoon, I think both of these offenses shape out well against each other. The Orioles rank just behind offenses at 13 in OPS (.713) and wOBA (.311), and actually are better in terms of wRC+, ranking 11th (103).

Favorite Plays: Cedric Mullins, Adley Rutschman, Anthony Santander, Gunnar Henderson, Rougned Odor

Also Consider: Philadelphia Phillies, Kansas City Royals
