DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (6/28/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Shane Baz - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Prospects, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on June 28th 2022. Mark Kieffer's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Welcome back! It's a Tuesday with no other major sports going on, which means it's a perfect day for MLB DFS! There are some great pitchers going on the mound today like Clayton Kershaw, Zack Wheeler, Carlos Rodon, Tarik Skubal, Brandon Woodruff, and Frankie Montas. It is going to be a lot of fun following the action tonight! This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 6/28/2022, Main Slate at 7:05 pm Eastern Time.

The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. The main slate is 14 games on DraftKings and FanDuel as there is a double-header between Minnesota and Cleveland that is not part of the slate.

You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. If you have any questions or comments, find me on Twitter @Mark_Kieffer and ask away!

Today's MLB Weather Outlook

There are no games with rain forecasted. There is a Coors Field game. There are several games where the weather is warm and the wind is blowing out. This has the potential to be a high-scoring slate.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Carlos Rodon- P, SF vs DET ($10,400 DK, $10,600 FD)

He probably isn't necessary for a cash game lineup, but Rodon is the best upside pitcher on the slate. He has the third-best SIERA (3.15), and the highest strikeout rate (31.3%). He is facing a bad offense in the Detroit Tigers and playing at home which is a favorable pitching park. Normally I'd fade in cash, and I'd spend up on him in a tournament if my budget allowed for it. With this slate, however, Clayton Kershaw is in Coors, Zack Wheeler is pitching to Atlanta, Tarik Skubal is pitching to San Francisco, Brandon Woodruff is fresh from injury, Framber Valdez is pitching to the Mets, and Frankie Montas is facing the Yankees. Rodon might be the cash game option tonight as well.

Jon Gray- P, TEX @ KC ($8,000 DK, $8,800 FD)

Jon Gray is my favorite value play on the slate. He is pitching against Kansas City, one of the worst offenses in the league. Gray has a 3.72 SIERA and a 25.5% strikeout rate. He has pitched better at home than on the road this season, however, Kansas City is one of the most favorable matchups on the slate. The Royals only have the 20th-highest strikeout rate, but their OBP is 22nd, their ISO is 26th, and they have scored the fourth-fewest runs in baseball. He has essentially the same metrics as Sean Manaea and is less expensive in a better matchup.

Shane Baz- P, TB vs. MIL ($7,600 DK, $7,200 FD) - DK Only

Shane Baz is my favorite spend down on the slate tonight. He has a 3.58 SIERA, which is right there with Zac Gallen, Charlie Morton, and Carlos Carrasco. His 28.3% strikeout rate is the third-highest on the slate. His walk rate of 9.4% is high which is the only concern. He has made it to the sixth inning just once out of three starts. He went 4.2 innings and allowed just one run to the Yankees in his last start, which is encouraging. After getting blown up by Minnesota, he has allowed one earned run in his last 10.2 innings pitched. On FanDuel, there is the risk of not getting a win or a quality start if he cannot last long enough in the game. On DraftKings, his high strikeout rate is appealing at such a cheap price.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Josh Smith- 3B, TEX vs. Jonathan Heasley ($2,400 DK)

Josh Smith is an SS on FanDuel. Heasley has the highest SIERA on the slate, a 12.2% walk rate, and the Royals bullpen is one of the worst in baseball on top of it. He has a small sample size of at-bats in the big leagues, but to take a potential leadoff guy at this price against the worst pitcher is a wise move in cash games. I would stay away in GPPs unless part of a stack as he has not shown much power in the minor leagues with a .136 ISO in Triple-A this season and a .137 ISO in Double-A in 2021.

Ke'Bryan Hayes - 3B, PIT vs. Patrick Corbin ($3,000 FD)

Ke'Bryan Hayes is my choice on FanDuel for value at third base. He is also likely to lead off, going against a bad pitcher in Patrick Corbin. He has a .384 wOBA and .162 ISO against left-handed pitching this season.

Diego Castillo- SS, PIT vs. Patrick Corbin ($2,100 DK, $2,600 FD)

I am probably not playing Diego Castillo in the same lineup as Ke'Bryan Hayes unless I am doing a five-man tournament stack on DraftKings, or a four-man stack on FanDuel and skipping a spot. Castillo has a .250 ISO against LHP this season, but only a .308 wOBA. I love the power upside for cheap in this spot.

Jonah Bride- 2B, OAK vs. JP Sears ($2,600 DK)

This is a DraftKings-only play as Bride is not second base eligible on FanDuel. Bride is likely to bat towards the top of the order, JP Sears is an average pitcher at best, and Bride has a wRC+ of 115 against LHP in a small sample size.

Santiago Espinal- 2B, TOR vs. Michael Wacha ($2,300 FD) - FD recommended

Espinal is likely to bat at the bottom of the order, usually not something we want to use in cash games. Wacha is an average pitcher and while Espinal fares much better against LHP than RHP, he does not need to do much at $2,300 to make value in a cash game lineup.

Garrett Cooper- 1B, MIA vs. Dakota Hudson ($3,000 DK, $2,800 FD)

Dakota Hudson has 5.14 SIERA, a 13.2% strikeout rate with an 11.3% walk rate. Cooper is likely to bat middle of the order, has a wOBA of .386 and a wRC+ of 154 against RHP this season. There's a solid floor at a good price for Cooper.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Dylan Carlson- OF, STL vs. Braxton Garrett ($3,400 DK, $2,600 FD)

Dylan Carlson has a .409 wOBA and .238 ISO against LHP this season.

Gavin Sheets - OF, CHW vs. Chase Silseth ($2,300 DK, $2,200 FD)

Chase Silseth has a 4.94 SIERA and is allowing 2.2 HR/9. Sheets has a .226 ISO and a .346 OBP against RHP this season.

Jesus Sanchez- OF, MIA vs. Dakota Hudson ($3,300 DK, $2,600 FD)

Jesus Sanchez has a .344 wOBA, .257 ISO, and 156 wRC+ against RHP this season. Dakota Hudson has a 5.14 SIERA and a 1.9% K-BB%.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Here are a few stacks I am really liking today:

  • Texas Rangers -Heasley is the worst pitcher on the slate and he is backed up by an awful bullpen.
  • Miami Marlins- Dakota Hudson also has some bad metrics, a SIERA north of 5.00
  • Chicago White Sox - I have gotten burned by this White Sox team a lot this year. Chase Silseth has a 4.94 ISO and is allowing 2.2 HR/9. I'll take a shot
  • Los Angeles Dodgers - They got shut out at Coors last night. Will people be able to go back to the well? If they are under-owned, I will get very interested.
  • Oakland/Pittsburgh - These are bad offenses I don't mind stacking as a secondary stack.
