DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (6/17/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Byron Buxton - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on June 17th 2022. Mark Kieffer's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Welcome back my fellow RotoBallers to our free daily article for MLB DFS lineup picks and value plays.  This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 6/17/2022, Main Slate at 7:05 pm Eastern Time.

The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. The main slate is 12 games on DraftKings and 11 on FanDuel with a lot of different routes one can go with lineup construction and tournament strategy. Game two of the Phillies - Nationals double header is not on FanDuel but is on DraftKings

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Frankie Montas - P, OAK vs. KCR ($8,300 DK, $10,200 FD)

Frankie Montas would be my cash game choice at SP1 on DraftKings. He is a bit more expensive on FanDuel but still is worth some consideration. Montas has a 26.1% strikeout rate, a 5.6% walk rate, and a 3.16 SIERA. He is facing the Royals, who have the fourth-lowest ISO, eighth-lowest OBP, and have scored the fourth-fewest runs in baseball. Oakland also has a bad offense, so the win could be tough to come by, but Montas should be good for a quality start and some strikeouts tonight with few runs allowed.

Carlos Rodon- P, SFG @ PIT ($9,900 DK, $10,700 FD)

Carlos Rodon is a viable spend-up option on DraftKings. Rodon has the second-highest strikeout rate on the slate at 30.6%. He also has a 3.27 SIERA. The issue with Rodon is the walks: 9.2%. He can be blown up, he gave up eight runs to Saint Louis a month ago, that is far less likely with Pittsburgh. The Pirates have the second-highest strikeout rate at 25.1%, the third-lowest OBP, the seventh-lowest ISO, and the second-fewest runs scored in baseball.

Jon Gray- P, TEX @ DET ($6,900 DK, $8,600 FD)

Jon Gray is my favorite value pitcher for GPPs on FanDuel and as an SP2 on DraftKings. First, he faces a Detroit team that's not good. They have scored the fewest runs, they have the second-lowest OBP, and the lowest ISO in baseball. On the season Gray has a 26% strikeout rate, and a 3.82 SIERA. The one concern is walks with a 10% walk rate, but the Tigers rank dead last in drawing walks. He is putting up similar numbers are Robbie Ray and Adam Wainwright but is less expensive than either of them on DraftKings and similarly priced to Wainright on FanDuel but in a much more favorable matchup than either of those pitchers.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Evan Longoria- 3B, SFG vs. Zach Thompson ($3,300 DK, $2,500 FD)

Evan Longoria is not having the greatest season. He has just a .287 OBP and a 30% strikeout rate, but he is hitting the ball hard with a .238 ISO. He has missed some time and only has 28 games under his belt. Zach Thompson has a high SIERA (4.47), low strikeout rate (17.7%), and allows a hard-hit rate of 36.4%. Brendon Donovan ($3,200 DK) is another value option on DraftKings, and Gio Urshela ($3,700 DK || $2,300 FD). Spend-up options include Manny Machado, Jose Ramirez, Rafael Devers, Nolan Arenado, and Max Muncy.

Ha-Seong Kim- SS, SDP vs. Kyle Freeland ($3,300 DK, $2,900 FD)

Shortstop is a position that is nearly impossible to find value unless you want to punt to the bottom of the lineup. Kim is the only value option that is somewhat viable on this slate primarily because this game is being played at Coors, and Kim hits lefties better than right-handed batters with a .380 wOBA and .200 ISO this season. He will bat towards the bottom of the order, and will likely be out of Padres stacks in tournaments as well. Everyone else that is somewhat of a power threat or somewhat of a steals threat is in the $4K-$5K range. You could go with any of them if you want to spend up here.

Nolan Gorman- 2B, STL vs. Michael Wacha  ($4,000 DK, $3,000 FD)

Despite the low 2.33 ERA, Michael Wacha has a 4.60 SIERA. Gorman will likely bat middle of the order and is a power threat.

Seth Brown- 1B, OAK vs. Zach Greinke ($2,900 DK, $2,400 FD)

Greinke has a 4.99 SIERA with a 11.2% strikeout rate. Seth Brown has a .210 ISO against right-handed pitching this season.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Tyler O'Neill- OF, STL vs. Michael Wacha ($3,600 DK, $2,600 FD)

For as long as he is sub-$4K on DraftKings and sub-$3K on FanDuel, I will continue to tout him. The power has not come but since the injury, he has done better at the plate, especially against right-handed pitchers. I like the Cardinals today.

Byron Buxton- OF, MIN vs. Madison Bumgarner ($5,500 DK, $4,200 FD)

Buxton has a .373 wOBA and .370 ISO against left-handed pitchers this season. Bumgarner has a 4.77 SIERA and is allowing 1.54 HR/9 this season. If I am going to spend up in one spot in my entire lineup, it's here tonight. If you cannot afford it, there are always many values at outfielder.

Jordan Luplow- OF, ARI vs. Devin Smeltzer ($4,200 DK, $2,400 FD)

Luplow has a .316 ISO against left-handed pitching. He is criminally underpriced on FanDuel. Devin Smeltzer has a 5.13 SIERA and allows 1.32 HR/9.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Here are a few stacks I am really liking today:

Arizona Diamondbacks -Smeltzer has the highest SIERA on the slate and just a 12.5% strikeout rate. Balls will be in play and most likely runs will be scored.

Minnesota Twins - Madison Bumgarner has the fourth-highest SIERA on the slate with just a 16.4% strikeout rate.

Saint Louis Cardinals - Michael Wacha is a paper tiger. His 4.60 SIERA indicates some regression is going to happen. The Cardinals are one of the best offenses in the game as they have scored the fifth-most runs and have the second-lowest strikeout rate.

Los Angeles Dodgers - Expensive and hard to get to, but Plesac is allowing 1.32 HR/9 and has allowed a 43.3% hard-hit rate.

San Francisco Giants - They can be a hard team to roster as they pinch-hit players frequently. Zach Thompson allows 1.62 HR/9 and Pittsburgh's bullpen ERA is north of 4.00

Oakland A's - This is my YOLO, sneaky, play them only in a large GPP type of stack here. Greinke has the second-highest SIERA on the slate (4.99) and the lowest strikeout rate on the slate (11.2%). The Royals have the fourth-highest bullpen ERA at 4.74. If only they weren't so inept offensively, but this is major league baseball and bad teams can have high-scoring games occasionally as well.
