Should I start Woody Marks, Khalil Shakir, Dalton Schultz for Week 12? Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and recommendations for the 2025 NFL season.
Week 12’s Thursday Night Football matchup between the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills continues a trend of underwhelming Thursday matchups. Still, there are plenty of players in this game who can be fantasy relevant.
On one hand, the Bills have Josh Allen, who can push any of his pass catchers into a high-end fantasy outcome on any given week. On the other hand, you have a Houston Texans offense that has struggled with consistency but has provided some reliable fantasy players throughout the season.
Three players fantasy managers may need from this game are Woody Marks, Khalil Shakir, and Dalton Schultz. Are any worth playing in fantasy football in Week 12? Read below to find out.

Should I Start Woody Marks for Fantasy Football?
Houston’s offense has gradually been shifting more work to rookie running back Woody Marks over the last several weeks, but the division of work has significantly swung in Marks’s favor over the last two weeks.
In Weeks 10 and 11, Marks averaged a 73.1% snap share, handling 32 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown along with three receptions (on four targets) for 25 yards. Conversely, during that time, veteran Nick Chubb has played on just 19.3% of Houston’s offensive snaps, racking up eight carries for 64 yards and one reception for five yards. Marks is not nearly as efficient as Chubb is on the ground, but he’s getting an undeniable amount of volume from a fantasy perspective.

During that time, Marks is the RB27 in fantasy, averaging 11.1 PPR points per game thanks to his increased workload. He has benefitted from a strong Houston defense that has been able to keep games close for Davis Mills under center.
That should be the case again on Thursday night. Marks also gets an additional bonus thanks to a strong matchup. The Houston Texans have run the second-most man/duo rushing concepts this season (37.1%) and average 4.1 yards per attempt on those plays. Buffalo has allowed opposing running backs to average 6.0 yards per carry on man/duo runs, which is the second most in the NFL.
Marks should be considered a solid RB2 in Week 12 thanks to his increased volume and a plus matchup. Even if the game shifts to a shootout, he is also Houston’s primary pass-catching running back, which helps him maintain a solid floor with a higher ceiling.
Should I Start Khalil Shakir for Fantasy Football?
Khalil Shakir let his fantasy managers down in Week 11, catching just one of three targets for -3 yards in a game where Buffalo’s offense scored 44 points.
Shakir leads Buffalo’s passing attack in targets (61), receptions (46), and receiving yards (454) and is second on the team in touchdowns (3). He has at least five targets in seven games this season, but unfortunately, he averages just 11.0 PPR points per game (WR41) due to Buffalo’s tendency to spread the ball around to all their pass-catching weapons.

Houston is one of the most difficult matchups for fantasy receivers in the NFL this season, so it is hard to trust Shakir. That said, the Bills may be without Dalton Kincaid and Keon Coleman again this week, so the target competition for the veteran receiver isn’t very good either.
Shakir should be considered a top-30 receiver this week, but he’s in the high-end WR3 range over the top 24 range due to Buffalo’s ability to spread the ball to their pass catchers.
Should I Start Dalton Schultz for Fantasy Football?
The Houston Texans' pass catchers have had to navigate injuries and inexperience this season. That has helped tight end Dalton Schultz be a usable player for fantasy.
Since Week 7, Schultz is the TE8 in PPR points per game, averaging 13.3 points. He has four top 10 finishes and two top five finishes during that time.
Unfortunately, there aren’t many pathways for Schultz to hit a high-end outcome without finding his way into the end zone. Schultz is third among all tight ends in targets this season (67), but is still just the TE14 in points per game (10.6). He has seven games with at least five receptions, but just five games with 50+ receiving yards.
The Buffalo Bills are the most difficult matchup in the NFL for tight ends this season, allowing just 3.5 fantasy points per game to the position this year. Schultz’s role in the passing attack should help him surpass that number, but there won’t be many opportunities for him to have a top-five outcome in Week 12.
He should be considered a high-end TE2, but there are other players available who can provide more upside in your fantasy lineup this week.
