Carolina Panthers quarterback Matt Corral missed all of the 2022 season with a foot injury.
While Carolina is widely expected to address the quarterback position either via free agency or the draft this offseason, the team will also hope to have Corral in the mix as depth as they gear up for the 2023 season.
Will the second-year signal caller be ready to return to action by the beginning of training camp or will he need to miss more time? Let's dive in and take a look.

Matt Corral Injury News
Corral was taken in the third round of the 2022 draft with the 94th pick after the Panthers traded up with New England to get their guy.
His rookie year was a wash after Corral underwent Lisfranc surgery last September. He initially suffered the injury during the Panthers' second preseason game. He wound up playing in two preseason games in 2022, completing 10 of his 24 passes for 69 yards and no touchdowns.
Reich also said Matt Corral may not be ready for the start of OTAs. Which is reasonable with the timeline of his injury.

New Carolina head coach Frank Reich was asked about Corral's status late in February and indicated to reporters that the QB may not be ready for OTAs late in the spring.
Will Matt Corral Be Ready By Training Camp?
Even if Corral ends up missing OTAs, that would not necessarily rule him out of being ready for the beginning of training camp. With Sam Darnold a free agent, the top two quarterbacks on the Panthers are currently Corral and P.J. Walker.
That puts Corral in line to compete for the starting job heading into the 2023 season if the Panthers surprise this offseason and don't bolster the quarterback position (although they are unlikely to ignore the position completely).
Corral has at least one fan in Alabama EDGE rusher Will Anderson Jr., who had high praise for the former Ole Miss QB after he was asked who the top signal-callers he faced in the SEC were.

The recovery from Lisfranc surgery can take up to a year, which means that Corral isn't necessarily behind in his rehab and could still be ready for the start of training camp. At this point in the offseason, the Panthers don't have to reveal anything about his injury but the situation should become clearer as training camp draws closer.
