Will De'Von Achane play for the Cleveland Browns in 2025? Will De'Von Achane be healthy enough to play in Week 1? McCarthy breaks down the latest De'Von Achane injury news for fantasy football.
Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane (calf) is dealing with a calf injury and was held out all of last week in practice.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel described it as "preventative in nature," and they didn't want it to prolong.
Achane has had no setbacks with the injury since it was first reported, which is a positive sign. The next step for the star back will be to return to practice before the season opener against the Colts.

Will Achane Play This Season?
Calf injuries can be tricky to navigate for athletes, and even upon returning, they can have an impact. However, Achane looks to be on the right track to recovery at the moment. It remains to be seen if he's able to show the same level of explosiveness when he returns and how it will impact his fantasy scoring.

Calf injury, may be ready W1. Calves help acceleration and sprinting which is exactly Achane's game.
RBs only average a 7% dip in fantasy pts but some have really struggled in game 1 back from injury. Re-injury rates 15-20% 👇https://t.co/V32ZZIv5kV

If the Dolphins opt to go ultra conservative with Achane and hold him out for Week 1, it would likely just be a one-week thing and not a long-term concern. Achane is expected to be a massive part of their offense this season, and ensuring that he is healthy is a priority.
Will De'Von Achane Play In Week 1?
Head coach Mike McDaniel has said that Achane is expected to return to practice before Week 1 to get geared up and prepared for the season. Every indication has been that he will be ready to start against the Colts and handle his normal workload. Perhaps the rookie Ollie Gordon II's emergence will lighten the load a tad for Achane on the ground, but he can maintain his usage in the pass game.
Mike McDaniel said De'Von Achane has had no setbacks, and he looks forward to getting him back out at practice in the weeks before the opener.

Achane appears pretty close to being fully healthy and back to practicing soon. He has all the talent and usage to explode in Week 1.
De'Von Achane 2025 Fantasy Outlook
After pacing all running backs in receptions by a 10-catch margin last year, Achane enters 2025 with the ability to widen that gap even further. He averaged 22.5 PPR points per game and 6.5 targets per game in 11 starts with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback. His receiving upside is unparalleled at the position, and RB receptions are a fantasy gold mine.

He's also scored 23 touchdowns in 20 career games, 14 on the ground and nine as a receiver. Miami would frequently use him on perimeter screens in the red zone to quickly get the ball in his hands and use it as an extension of their run game. He was also commonly used on angle routes out of the backfield and even as a pure wide receiver from the slot.

Achane has the upside to be the highest-scoring running back in fantasy football this year. Achane's rushing peripherals fell off considerably from his historic rookie season when he nearly averaged eight yards per carry. But what if he combines his elite efficiency as a runner with gaudy reception totals? With the way the Dolphins offense consolidates their weapons and Achane's paths to scoring, it could be a historically explosive season for Achane.
