Week 9 DraftKings NFL DFS Lineup Picks (2022): Break The Slate With Josh Allen, Travis Etienne, And Justin Jefferson

Joe Nicely's DraftKings NFL DFS picks and lineup sleepers for the Week 9 (2022) Main Slate. His top daily fantasy football lineups to target for DraftKings DFS contests.

Hello RotoBallers and welcome back to Break The Slate, our DraftKings NFL DFS Lineup Picks for Week 9! I appreciate you joining me in our season-long quest to find the best plays at each position for every DraftKings Main Slate.

As we head into November, it has been an interesting year for DFS, as I don't ever recall a season with so many "obvious" plays that have consistently hit on a weekly basis. It was more of the same in Week 8, as popular options featured in this article such as Tony Pollard and D.J. Moore, once again broke the slate with high scores. While we can't expect the chalk to always hit, this season has been a good one for those DFS players that give little mind to ownership.

These DraftKings lineup recommendations are based on matchups, projected DK points and ownership, overall upside/talent levels, and opportunity, as well as factors such as Vegas odds, home-field advantage, and more. There are quite a few great plays available on DK for Week 9. Also, be sure to also check out our weekly FanDuel DFS lineup picks and lots of other great NFL DFS articles and NFL DFS tools to help you win big! Good luck with your DraftKings DFS lineups - let's Break The Slate together!

DraftKings Quarterbacks - Week 9 DFS Picks

Josh Allen - BUF @ NYJ ($8,500)

I’m not sure what I can say about Josh Allen at this point. He owns the highest DFS floor and ceiling combo in the NFL. Allen’s 19.2 DraftKings point performance last week against Green Bay was his lowest output of the season, which illustrates the consistently elite level he’s played at this year.

His Week 9 matchup against the New York Jets is tougher than we might expect, as Gang Green comes in ranked eighth in the league in Pass Defense DVOA. That said, Allen is basically matchup-proof at this point. He should be in cash-game consideration, as well as in play for stack builds in GPP.

Justin Fields - MIA @ CHI ($5,300)

Despite steadily improving production, Justin Fields’ DK price tag has stayed roughly the same as it was at the beginning of the year. Fields has now scored 24 or more DK points in each of his last two and 17 or more in four straight.

While the Chicago offense continues to evolve to fit Fields’ game as a thrower, it’s his ability on the ground which has led to fantasy success. He trails only Lamar Jackson in rushing yards at the QB position (424) and also stands second in the league in both rushing attempts (76) and rushing TDs (3) among QBs.

In addition to his low price tag and solid DFS floor, Fields and the Bears draw a plus matchup against Miami in Week 9. The Dolphins have allowed a chunky 5.65 yards per carry to opposing QBs and have relinquished the third-most DK points in the NFL to the position.

DraftKings Running Backs - Week 9 DFS Picks

Aaron Jones - GB @ DET ($7,400)

With seemingly every game suddenly a “must-win” for this embattled Packers team, Green Bay has turned to Aaron Jones more in recent weeks as their downfield passing attack continues to stall. Jones has responded in a big way by averaging 25.65 DraftKings points over Green Bay’s last two.

While this Packers’ backfield was basically an even split between Jones and A.J. Dillon earlier in the year, that balance has drastically shifted in the last two weeks. Jones has handled 65.1% of Green Bay’s carries and owns a 24.2% target share since Week 7.

He draws a smash matchup in Week 9 against the pitiful Detroit Lions, a squad that ranks dead last in the NFL in Total Defense DVOA and 30th in Rush Defense DVOA. The Lions have yielded over five yards per carry AND five yards per target to opposing RBs this year.

Travis Etienne - LV @ JAX ($6,300)

For the last several weeks of the NFL season, we’ve been living in “Chalk Land” at the RB position. The list of “obvious and great plays that got there” is long and we’ll look to add Travis Etienne to the tally in Week 9.

With James Robinson now in New York, Etienne is the unquestioned lead dog in this backfield. That’s translated to massive usage and production for the former Clemson star, as he’s totaled 270 rushing yards and two TDs on 38 carries over Jacksonville’s last two.

This week he’ll square off against a Raiders unit that’s been middling against the rush, but has been very susceptible to pass-catching RBs. Las Vegas has allowed the second-most receiving yards (428) and receiving TDs (3) in the NFL to the RB position. It’s a weakness that the dynamic Etienne is more than capable of taking advantage of.

DraftKings Wide Receivers - Week 9 DFS Picks

Justin Jefferson - MIN @ WAS ($8,600)

The LSU product has elevated his game to the next level this year thanks to his consistency. Jefferson has evolved into a Cooper Kupp-like fantasy machine that’s averaging over 107 receiving yards per game and almost 23 DK points per outing.

Those numbers are even more impressive when you realize that Jefferson hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 1, which means the Vikes stud should be in for some positive TD regression at any moment.

There’s a strong chance the floodgates open this week against the Washington Commanders’ swiss-cheese secondary. Washington is a true pass-funnel defense that ranks second in the league in Rush Defense DVOA, but just 28th against the pass. The Commanders rank bottom-10 in the NFL in yards (1,382), TDs (8), and DK points (302.20) allowed to the WR position this season.

Josh Palmer - LAC @ ATL ($5,100)

With L.A.'s Mike Williams already ruled out and Keenan Allen looking to be on the wrong side of questionable, Josh Palmer could well be the lead dog in the Chargers' receiving corps this week. Palmer has yet to truly capitalize on a season that's already been full of opportunity for him, but the combination of his DK price tag and expected volume in Week 9 makes him impossible to ignore.

Palmer missed a Week 7 tilt against Seattle with a concussion, but he should be all systems go as L.A. comes off their bye week. He was targeted 12 times the last time he suited up in Week 6 and that marked the fourth occasion this season he's seen six or more targets.

Assuming Palmer is the WR1 for the Chargers this week, he draws a dream matchup against a banged-up Atlanta Falcons secondary. With one starting CB - Casey Heyward - on IR and another - A.J. Terrell - that hasn't practiced all week with a hamstring injury, Atlanta is as thin as 10-year-old underwear in the secondary. The Falcons have been destroyed through the air this season and rank dead last in the NFL in receiving yards allowed to opposing wideouts.

DraftKings Tight Ends - Week 9 DFS Picks

Gerald Everett - LAC @ ATL ($4,800)

If you aren't completely sold on L.A.'s Josh Palmer, you might want to cast your lot with Chargers' TE Gerald Everett, a player that's been steadily involved in this passing attack throughout the year and would likely see a bump in volume if both Mike Williams and Keenan Allen are indeed out.

I want to attack this pathetic Atlanta Falcons pass defense in some form or fashion this week and Everett makes sense, while also checking off a TE roster spot that's especially ugly on this Week 9 slate. Atlanta has allowed the second-most TE catches in the NFL (54) and the third-most receiving yards (552) to the position. Everett is equipped to take advantage from a volume perspective, as he heads into the week averaging a respectable 6.4 targets per game, a mark that's the seventh-highest in the league among tight ends.

Evan Engram - LV @ JAC ($3,300)

With the likes of Kelce, Andrews, and Kittle off the DK Main Slate, the often cringe-inducing TE position is downright nasty this week. As a result, I'm willing to spend down and grab Jacksonville's Evan Engram, a player that was on the field for a massive 93% of the Jags' offensive snaps in Week 8.

Engram's 48 targets rank as the fifth-most in the NFL at the position and he's averaging 7.25 looks per game over Jacksonville's last four. He draws a good matchup against a Raiders defense that's allowed the NFL's third-most TDs (6) to the TE position this season.
