Ty Johnson is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 14 of the 2021 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: The Jets are dealing with a variety of injuries on offense, especially at the running back position. Rookie Michael Carter is already on IR, and now Tevin Coleman has been ruled out for the Week 14 game due to a concussion. Add in Corey Davis (out for the season) and Elijah Moore (placed on IR), and you can see the team is running low on offensive options.
Ty Johnson is the next man up on the depth chart, along with Austin Walter and La'Mical Perine. Realistically each of the running backs could get touches versus the Saints, but Ty Johnson has had a better track record so far this year and seems to be the preferred option in pass-catching situations as well. This makes him more attractive for fantasy football purposes, especially in PPR leagues.
The Saints will likely be winning this game, putting the Jets offense in a negative game script. If playing from behind, the Jets will need to throw the ball more often, which should keep Johnson on the field. If he can rack up a few carries and a few targets, he can be a quality FLEX play with upside for more.
If Johnson can find the end zone he will reward fantasy owners as an RB2 play. With four teams and bye and many injury situations to deal with, Johnson is a decent waiver wire pickup and start in Week 14 who may surprise and exceed expectations.
