Trey McBride is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for tight ends. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 8 of the 2023 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues, TE-Premium Formats
ROSTERED IN: 2% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: McBride has now garnered 11 targets over Arizona's last two games. The second-year pro has outproduced veteran tight end Zach Ertz by totaling seven receptions for 91 yards since Week 6.
Although the Cardinals have been a feisty squad this season, they dropped to 1-6 with a Week 7 loss to Seattle. As the season continues to slip away from them, we can expect the organization to attempt to develop their talented young players such as McBride, a 2022 second-round pick out of Colorado State. There have been murmurs that Ertz is on the trading block, and if he's moved before the trade deadline, McBride's fantasy value would increase exponentially. He would also see an uptick if Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray returns to action this year.
McBride has looked athletic and explosive after the catch when given opportunities this season. His impact will likely remain minimal as long as Ertz is in the picture, though the youngster's stock is certainly on the rise. He's a bench stash with long-term upside.
