Top Fantasy Football Injuries From Sunday: Lamar Jackson, Jimmy Garoppolo, Tua Tagovailoa, Kenneth Walker, Treylon Burks

Jimmy Garoppolo fantasy football rankings news NFL DFS lineup picks

Top Injuries From Week 13 fantasy football for RB, WR, QB, TE (2022), as of 12/5 -- Lamar Jackson, Jimmy Garoppolo, Tua Tagovailoa, Kenneth Walker, and Treylon Burks.

The fantasy football playoffs are just a week away in most leagues, so unfortunate injuries will change outlooks in a big way when it matters most. More key players were banged up in Week 13, so we'll have to monitor their statuses early in the week. As always, some players who suffered injuries are more likely to miss time than others, but we'll cover it all. Our fantasy football injuries report highlights the banged-up players with fantasy significance and their early status heading into Week 14 as of Monday, December 5, 2022. This article focuses only on players who suffered injuries on Sunday of Week 13 games.

Lamar Jackson, Jimmy Garoppolo, Tua Tagovailoa, Kenneth Walker, and Treylon Burks picked up bumps and bruises in Week 13. We can't know for sure how these injuries will progress before game time in Week 13, but it's never too early to at least take a look at the group of key guys to prepare for waiver wire Wednesday or Thursday.

Lamar Jackson Injury Update

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (knee) didn't return on Sunday versus the Broncos. Fortunately, the knee injury he suffered won't keep him out for the rest of the year. However, head coach John Harbaugh couldn't say for certain how long he'd be out for.

That said, Jackson will undergo more testing on Monday, although there's a chance he won't play in Week 14 against Pittsburgh. If that's the case, Tyler Huntley, who threw for 187 yards and a pick while adding 10 carries for 41 yards in Week 13, is expected to remain under center.

Jimmy Garoppolo Injury Update

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (foot) didn't return to Sunday's win over the Dolphins after getting injured in the first quarter, requiring a trip to the locker room on the cart. Unfortunately, the latest update isn't positive, as the signal-caller suffered a broken foot. Even worse, per head coach Kyle Shanahan, he will undergo further testing on Monday and require season-ending surgery.

Garoppolo wasn't expected to be on the roster heading into the 2022-23 campaign. However, after Trey Lance (ankle) was lost for the year, the veteran took over under center. A report recently surfaced indicating the 49ers and Garoppolo were open to maintaining their professional relationship next season. But, with the recent development, it's unknown if he'll be back. Nevertheless, rookie Brock Purdy, who finished with 210 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick in Week 13, could remain the No.1 option on the depth chart. At the same time, it's possible the team will explore other options.

Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (ankle) didn't return to the Week 13 loss to the 49ers. Obviously, that left many fantasy managers concerned. However, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Tagovailoa's injury isn't considered serious, and he could have returned to the game if needed.

The signal-caller has already missed plenty of time this season but has played well when he's been on the field. That said, he's expected to be under center in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Chargers, barring a setback. If he can't suit up, Teddy Bridgewater (knee), who didn't play on Sunday, or Skylar Thompson, may lead the offense.

Kenneth Walker Injury Update

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (ankle) didn't return to the Week 13 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams because of an ankle injury. Fortunately, head coach Pete Carroll seemingly provided a reassuring update following the game, indicating the rookie didn't suffer a sprain, instead, he "jammed" it. It's likely Walker, who had nine touchdowns heading into Sunday's meeting, will undergo further testing.

However, it appears there's a chance he could be on the field versus the Panthers in Week 14. If he isn't, Travis Homer (knee, illness), who didn't play, may be the lead option out of the backfield. If he can't go either, DeeJay Dallas should handle most of the carries.

Treylon Burks Injury Update

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks didn't return against the Philadelphia Eagles after entering the concussion protocol.. The rookie was on the receiving end of a nasty upper-body hit from Marcus Epps in the first quarter. While Burks held on to the pass for a touchdown, he stayed down on the ground and required medical attention. He finishes the day with 25 yards and the score. Robert Woods and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine will be the top receivers for Tennessee if Burks has to miss any time, but neither is on the fantasy radar.

Burks now has 12 receptions for 206 yards and two touchdowns in his last nine quarters played, so he'd be a great flex candidate against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14 if he can clear protocol in time.

Courtland Sutton Injury Update

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton (hamstring) put up a donut for his fantasy managers in the 10-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13 on Sunday. He failed to catch his only target in the game before leaving with a hamstring injury and never returning. The 27-year-old had a more limited ceiling with the return of Jerry Jeudy (ankle) this weekend, but nobody realistically expected a donut in the box score.

It's a tough break for fantasy managers, and he may not be ready to play in Week 14 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Sutton had 11 catches (15 targets) for 155 yards in the two games that Jeudy missed, but overall it's been a big disappointment for him in 2022 in a terrible Broncos offense. If Sutton isn't able to play next week, Jeudy and Kendall Hinton would operate as the top two receivers.
