Time to Drop TreVeyon Henderson? Fantasy Football Week 7 Waiver Wire Outlook (2025)

TreVeyon Henderson - Fantasy Football Rookie Rankings, RB Draft Sleepers

Should I drop TreVeyon Henderson for fantasy football Week 7? Is TreVeyon Henderson a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.

Week 7 is a good point in the fantasy season to take a step back and evaluate your roster to make a push for the fantasy playoffs. Part of that process is determining if underperforming players are worth keeping or cutting to optimize your roster.

One player who has been frustrating for fantasy managers this season is rookie TreVeyon Henderson. Henderson was a premium draft pick during fantasy drafts due to his playmaking ability and potential to generate explosive plays as a pass catcher. Through six weeks, that has not happened.

Should fantasy managers drop TreVeyon Henderson in fantasy football? Read below to find out.

Should I Drop TreVeyon Henderson in Fantasy Football?

The story of TreVeyon Henderson’s rookie season is far from over, but it is also fair to say that the 2025 second-round pick has been a bust through six weeks.

Fantasy managers who drafted Henderson were expecting to, at worst, get a pass-catching back with the ability to take over the backfield as the season wore on. Instead, they have gotten a player who has been struggling to capitalize on his limited opportunities this year.

Henderson has just two games with a snap share above 35% this season. He has just one game with double-digit carries (Week 3) and one game with more than three targets (Week 1). The rookie is averaging just 6.8 carries and 3.0 targets per game with 41.2 all-purpose yards. Henderson is currently the RB45 in PPR points per game (7.8) with just two weeks of more than 10.0 points scored.

There was hope that Antonio Gibson's injury and Rhamondre Steveson’s fumbling issues would lead to a bigger role for Henderson in Week 6. Instead, the rookie posted his lowest snap share of the season (29.7%) in a game where the Patriots held a lead for most of the game.

When Henderson has gotten opportunities, he’s struggled to capitalize on them. Henderson ranks 121st among running backs in rushing yards over expected (-26) according to NextGen Stats. According to FTN Fantasy, he’s also 35th among 41 qualified running backs in rushing success rate (34.1%), 37th in yards before contact (1.7), and 34th in explosive run rate (7.3%).

Despite that, Henderson is still a hold in fantasy. As bad as things seem for the rookie (and they are far from good), Henderson is still outperforming Stevenson in every advanced metric except for rushing yards over expected. That, combined with Stevenson’s well-documented fumbling issues, suggests that it is only a matter of time before Henderson starts to see more opportunities.

It is understandable if injuries and bye weeks have fantasy managers considering dropping Henderson for someone who can provide some level of fantasy production to their lineup. But there is still a lot of season left, and Henderson’s college production and athleticism suggest that better days are on the horizon.

Who Should I Pick Up for Fantasy Football?

Unfortunately, the promise of future fantasy points doesn’t do much to win matchups today. Fantasy managers who find themselves in a position where they need immediate fantasy production do have places they can turn on the waiver wire.

Tyler Allgeier (35% rostered on Yahoo) continues to maintain a solid role in Atlanta’s offense as a breather back for Bijan Robinson. Allgeier has had at least 10 carries and 24 yards rushing in four of five games this season. He also has three rushing touchdowns, which have helped him post at least 11.0 fantasy points in three of his last four games.

Managers who hold waiver priority or have a healthy amount of FAAB budget can also go after Kimani Vidal (32% rostered) after he dominated as the lead back in the Chargers’ backfield against the Miami Dolphins. Vidal had 22.8 fantasy points with 18 carries for 124 yards and added three receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown.

There will be tougher matchups (and possibly a more split backfield depending on game script), but Vidal is worth acquiring since reports indicate that rookie Omarion Hampton will likely miss more than the four minimum games on the injured reserve.

The Tennessee Titans could opt for a full-blown youth movement now that they have fired head coach Brian Callahan, which makes Tyjae Spears (24% rostered) an interesting add. Spears saw his role expand in his second game back from the injured reserve with five carries for 31 yards and four receptions for 19 yards.
