Stefon Diggs start 'em, sit 'em fantasy football lineup picks for Week 16. Should you start or sit Stefon Diggs in Week 16 (2023) fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start In All Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR1
ANALYSIS: "At what point do I bench Diggs?"
That was a message I received from a league mate who is battling for a Dynasty championship. He survived the four-catch, 48-yard effort from one of his best players, so it's a fair question. Stefon Diggs has been outright bad for fantasy football for three of the last four weeks. That's why I'm even writing this piece about him. Otherwise, he'd be among the other first-round locks we don't waste time on, like Christian McCaffrey, Tyreek Hill, and CeeDee Lamb.
This recent poor stretch from Diggs comes as interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady calls the plays. He's taken the ball out of Josh Allen's hands more often, leaning on running back James Cook. It's working, as the Bills have picked up three wins in that span, only losing to Philadelphia in overtime, and put themselves squarely back in the playoff picture.
The Bills get to travel to Los Angeles and match up against the dreadful Chargers secondary. It's the same secondary that got eviscerated by Aidan O'Connell last week. They allow the third-most fantasy points to wide receivers. Davante Adams scored. Jakobi Meyers scored. Even rookie wide receiver Tre Tucker scored twice.
Diggs' lone good game recently came against the Eagles, the secondary allowing the most points to the position. This isn't a question of talent. Number 14 remains one of the best route runners in the game. If the Bills decide to attack the secondary, Diggs will have no issues getting open.
If Diggs got you this far, there's no shying away from him now. If he has another off day due to the game script, so be it. It will feel a lot worse if he's exploding against a weak secondary on the bench.
