Scott Barlow is a fantasy baseball closer draft sleeper, and potential ADP draft value for saves. Target Barlow as an undervalued relief pitcher in 2024 fantasy drafts.
ANALYSIS: The right-hander posted a 4.37 ERA, and 1.40 WHIP, with a 79/34 K/BB ratio and 13 saves last season. He had pitched extremely well during the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Kansas City Royals.
His first couple of appearances were marred by Coors and the Dodgers, but his final 21 games yielded this line: 24 ⅔ IP, 1.09 ERA, 28:9 K:BB, 0.97 WHIP, 2.44 FIP.
There’s plenty of hullabaloo regarding Emmanuel Clase’s mounting workload after his numbers stumbled last year. Barlow is the next man up and we know Cleveland is happy to (over)lean on their pen.
The Guardians also have had a good track record with relievers, so hopefully, they'll be able to turn him around. Nick Mariano projects Barlow for 80 strikeouts over 70 innings, a 1.26 WHIP, 2 saves, and 24 holds.
