Red Sox Might Be Interested In Gleyber Torres Again
1 year agoThe Boston Red Sox identified New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres as a trade target last season, with outfielder Alex Verdugo being of interest to New York, according to major-league sources. It appears the two rivals might be returning to that conversation again this offseason. Torres is viewed by some in Boston as an excellent fit, offering the kind of stability at second base that the team didn't have in 2023. The 26-year-old has one more year of arbitration eligibility and is predicted to make just over $14 million next season. Torres finished with an .800 OPS with 25 home runs, 13 stolen bases and a .273 batting average in 158 games for the Yanks in 2023 as one of the most reliable players at the keystone in the league. The swap would make a lot of sense, but the Yankees and Red Sox don't typically make deals with each other.
