Red Sox Make Multi-Year Offer To Eduardo Rodriguez
3 years agoThe Boston Red Sox have made a multi-year offer to left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez in addition to the one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer that they extended. Rodriguez is already drawing interest from other teams, including the Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers. Boston chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom on Monday said there is "mutual interest" in a long-term deal. On the surface, the 28-year-old's career-high 4.74 ERA doesn't look very appetizing, but he also had a career-high 10.6 K/9 and tied a career-low with 2.7 walks per nine innings while sporting a 3.32 FIP. The fact that he made 31 starts and tossed 157 2/3 innings was also a huge win after he missed all of 2020 due to a heart condition related to COVID-19. No matter where E-Rod winds, he could end up being a fantasy steal.
