Philip Rivers Ready To Get Some Action
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is ready to hit the field on Sunday after sitting out all the preseason games for the first time since 2005. Head coach Anthony Lynn tried to withhold some of his starters this year in hopes of combating a rash of injuries that have plagued the team over previous seasons, but he still lost his starting safety and left tackle to issues. Rivers is set to pass Eli Manning's consecutive start streak this week, and he told reporters that his work in joint practices was plenty. Rivers threw for 4,308 yards last season and 32 touchdowns, and those numbers are a solid expectation for 2019 as well. This first game will really be a challenge to see how the team fares without Melvin Gordon though. Expect Gordon's absence to make Rivers throw a bit more than normal.
