1 year agoNew York Mets All-Star first baseman Pete Alonso has hired agent Scott Boras and the BorasCorp to represent him as he heads into his final season in 2024 before free agency. Boras has a reputation for taking most of his clients into free agency, but the Mets do have a good relationship with Boras and have agreed to three big free-agent deals with Boras clients in recent years in Max Scherzer and Brandon Nimmo. The Mets tried to lock up Alonso to a long-term extension last winter, and they will surely try to do so again this winter. There was some talk of the Brewers or possibly Cubs trading for Alonso in August, but Mets front-office people said nothing was close to actually happening. The 28-year-old is one of the best right-handed sluggers in the game and is going to get paid handsomely either way.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
