Detroit Tigers right-hander Sawyer Gipson-Long (neck) has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to neck stiffness, per MLB.com. Gipson-Long got shelled in his final two outings before this IL placement, allowing 12 hits, four home runs, and 13 earned runs across 6 1/3 innings pitched against the New York Yankees and New York Mets. In 31 1/3 total big-league innings this season, Gipson-Long has pitched to a 7.18 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 26 strikeouts. He's allowed eight home runs, which has been his major issue. Gipson-Long could miss the remainder of the regular season and should be off fantasy radars.--Will Brady

Baltimore Orioles third baseman Jordan Westburg (ankle) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Friday. Westburg has been on the 10-day injured list since August 22, but it appears he's close to a return to the big leagues. It's been an injury-marred season for Westburg, but he's been effective when healthy. In 304 plate appearances, the 26-year-old has slashed .276/.326/.473 with 15 home runs, 34 RBI, and 53 runs scored. Fantasy managers should monitor Westburg's progress over the weekend, as he could be activated before the Orioles begin a three-game set against the Chicago White Sox on Monday.--Will Brady

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee performed like an ace and improved to 10-11 in a 4-0 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday. Bibee fired Cleveland's first complete-game shutout in six years, allowing just two hits (both singles) while racking up 10 strikeouts against no walks. He threw 103 pitches, 74 for strikes, and generated 14 whiffs in his best outing of 2025. The 26-year-old went through a brutal July-August stretch in which he pitched to a 6.15 ERA in 11 starts, but he has fared much better in September. Bibee has taken the mound twice this month and logged 15 2/3 innings of two-run, seven-hit ball with 13:1 K:BB. Overall, he owns a disappointing 4.44 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP, 149 strikeouts, and 50 walks in 170 1/3 frames this season. He's scheduled to take on the division-rival Minnesota Twins next Friday. Bibee has faced the Twins twice this year and given up five runs on 13 hits and two walks (10 strikeouts) across 11 2/3 innings.--Connor Byrne

Philadelphia Phillies infielder Edmundo Sosa (groin) is day-to-day after leaving an 8-2 win over the Kansas City Royals on Friday with groin tightness, manager Rob Thomson told reporters. Sosa, who started at shortstop, went 0-for-3 before the team replaced him with pinch-hitter Weston Wilson in the bottom of the seventh inning. With starting shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list since Sept. 8, Sosa has gotten most of the playing time at the position. If Sosa is unable to go on Saturday, Bryson Stott could slide over from second base to take his place, as he did Friday. Either Wilson or Donovan Walton would fill in for Stott at second.--Connor Byrne

The Houston Astros have transferred right-hander Luis Garcia (elbow) to the 60-day injured list, ending his season. Garcia underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2023 and took longer than expected to recover. After more than two full years on the shelf, Garcia made a long-awaited return to the majors on Sept. 1. However, he had to leave his second start on Sept. 9 with elbow discomfort, leading the Astros to place him on the 15-day IL on Wednesday. There's no word on the severity of the 28-year-old's injury or whether it will affect his availability for the 2026 campaign. Garcia impressed over 7 2/3 innings this year, especially after such a long layoff, as he allowed three runs on three hits and totaled seven strikeouts against one walk.--Connor Byrne

Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (wrist) was out of the lineup Friday against the Seattle Mariners with soreness in his left wrist, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Neto's wrist hasn't been at full strength since a hit by pitch forced him from a game on Aug. 20, though the injury hasn't required a stint on the 10-day IL to this point. "It really is minute to minute, day to day," interim manager Ray Montgomery said. "He only knows how it's feeling in the moment. So we're going to give him a minute to let it calm down a little bit." Based on Montgomery's words, it's hard to predict whether Neto will return to the lineup Saturday. The 24-year-old has popped two of his career-high 26 home runs this month, but his wrist issues may be having a negative effect, as he has hit just .162/.295/.324 through 11 games in September. The light-hitting Oswald Peraza started at short in place of Neto on Friday.--Connor Byrne

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn (knee) is done for the year, manager Oliver Marmol announced on Friday. Winn tried to play through a torn meniscus in his right knee, but the 72-76 Cardinals will instead shut him down for the rest of 2025. Winn, who hasn't played since Monday, was in the Cardinals' initial lineup on Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers. The club made Winn a late scratch, though, replacing him with Thomas Saggese. The 23-year-old defensive stud will end his season with a .253/.310/.363 line, nine homers, 51 RBI, 72 runs, and nine steals over 537 trips to the plate. Winn is expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery sometime in the coming months. Meanwhile, both Saggese and Brendan Donovan will see time at shortstop over the final two-plus weeks of the season.--Connor Byrne

Detroit Tigers infielder/outfielder Javier Baez (head) left an 8-2 loss to the Miami Marlins on Friday after fouling a ball off his forehead. Baez is not in concussion protocol, though, and is considered day-to-day, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports. The 32-year-old started at shortstop, but the Tigers had to replace him with Trey Sweeney during his first at-bat game of the game in the top of the second inning. After back-to-back awful seasons, Baez surprisingly bounced back en route to an All-Star nod in the first half this year. However, his production has tanked since the beginning of July, and he's now hitting a below-average .256/.284/.400 with 11 homers, 52 RBI, 53 runs, and five steals in 410 plate appearances.--Connor Byrne

After leaving his start early on Friday with side discomfort, Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal (side) will undergo imaging on Saturday, Jeff Passan of ESPN reports. Skubal, who's dealing with pain near his left rib cage, could only manage 3 1/3 innings of four-run ball in an 8-2 loss to the Miami Marlins before the injury forced him from the game. The reigning AL Cy Young winner fell to 13-5 with a 2.26 ERA, a league-best .84 WHIP, and 224:28 K:BB over 183 1/3 innings. Thanks to his tremendous production, Skubal is the overwhelming favorite to take home Cy Young honors again this year. It could be a catastrophic late-season blow to the Tigers and fantasy managers if the irreplaceable southpaw has to miss a significant amount of time.--Connor Byrne

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Trevor Rogers (toe) was removed early during Friday's outing against the Toronto Blue Jays. Rogers was pulled after five innings of work due to left toe discomfort. Before exiting, Rogers allowed one unearned run on three hits, while walking four batters, and striking out six hitters across five innings of work. The expectation is that Rogers will undergo further evaluation. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. Fantasy managers will need to check back to see if this impacts Rogers making his next start.--Andy Webb

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith (hand) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the San Francisco Giants. Smith will head to the bench for the second straight game and the seventh time in the last eight games. He continues to deal with right hand soreness that has lingered throughout the week. It wouldn't be shocking if Smith lands on the injured list. In his absence, Ben Rortvedt will do the catching and bat ninth against right-hander Justin Verlander on Friday. Fantasy managers should check back on Saturday to see if Smith is ready to return.--Andy Webb

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (illness) is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Adell will now take a seat for the fourth time in the last five games. He continues to battle a case of vertigo that will sideline him for a second straight game. It doesn't sound like this is something that will land Adell on the injured list. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. Chris Taylor will take over in right field and bat second on Friday. Fantasy managers should check back on Saturday for another update on Adell.--Andy Webb

Athletics first baseman/outfielder Tyler Soderstrom (groin) was scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. This news comes after Soderstrom left Wednesday's contest due to groin tightness. The A's were off on Thursday, but it doesn't appear that was enough time. Soderstrom will hit the bench for at least one more game. In his absence, Carlos Cortes will move into the lineup and take over in left field during Friday's contest. Fantasy managers should check back on Saturday for another update.--Andy Webb

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal (side) was forced to make an early exit from Friday's start against the Miami Marlins. Skubal only threw 3.1 innings before grabbing his left side after throwing a pitch and calling for the training staff. After further discussion on the mound, the Tigers decided to take the cautious approach and pull Skubal from the game. The team is calling the issue left side tightness, so hopefully he won't miss much time. The assumption is that Skubal will undergo further testing. Before exiting, Skubal tossed 3.1 innings, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out two batters. It's unclear if he'll be able to make his next start, so fantasy managers should check back for another update.--Andy Webb

San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman's appeal of his one-game suspension was successful, and he will start at third and bat fifth on Friday night in a crucial divisional matchup against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers and right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto at Oracle Park. Earlier this month, the Giants got in a little dust-up with the Colorado Rockies in which Chapman pushed Kyle Freeman. The 32-year-old will now avoid a suspension and will be available on Friday night. Chapman has gone hitless in five career at-bats against Yamamoto, but he'll also be coming into Friday's series opener in the Bay Area with a seven-game hitting streak. During his current seven-game hitting streak, Chapman has gone 11-for-24 with three home runs, three doubles, six RBI, and eight runs scored in 29 plate appearances. He has quietly produced his sixth 20-homer season in 2025.--Keith Hernandez
