14 hours agoChicago Cubs catching prospect Moises Ballesteros has looked very comfortable in his first extended look against Double-A pitching and is making a case to join Triple-A Iowa later this summer. After playing in just four games with Double-A Tennessee last summer, Ballesteros has put up a solid .273/.358/.424 line with five home runs, 26 RBI, and an 18:22 BB:K ratio through 42 games this season. The young backstop recently moved into the top-100 ranking on MLB Pipeline in their latest update and could even climb higher as the summer progresses. He is currently projected to reach the Northside of Chicago next season and could very well develop into the future backstop of the franchise.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MiLB.com

14 hours agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill (knee) recently received a cortisone shot in his knee, which he said has helped him. The 28-year-old has been out since May 26 due to right knee inflammation. The good news is that O'Neill could return as early as Wednesday when he's eligible to be removed from the injured list. Fantasy managers should be patient and hold onto O'Neill for a little longer. He has 11 homers in 41 games, so his power alone is worth keeping him on fantasy rosters.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Chris Cotillo

14 hours agoToronto Blue Jays rookie right-hander Yariel Rodriguez (back) made his second minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo back on Sunday and tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings with one strikeout and two walks while allowing two hits. The 27-year-old Cuban threw only 16 pitches in the outing and is scheduled to start again for the Bisons on Friday in an outing in which he's expected to be stretched out a bit more. Before the Blue Jays reinstate him from the 15-day injured list, he's likely to require at least one more rehab start. Rodriguez is recovering from thoracic spine inflammation and won't be rushed back, especially with how few innings he's pitched in recent seasons. When Rodriguez does return to Toronto, he could once again work as a tandem starter with Bowden Francis (forearm), who is also working his way back from the injured list.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Milb.com

14 hours agoBoston Red Sox catching prospect Kyle Teel has been awfully hot at the plate through May and is on the verge of being promoted to Triple-A. Since May 1, the 22-year-old has posted a .350/.435/.525 line with two long balls, 18 RBI, and a 12:18 BB:K ratio. In addition, throughout the month, he also held multiple seven-game hitting streaks. The number three prospect in Boston has logged only 46 games at the Double-A level but is making quite a case to join Triple-A very soon. The Virginia product is worth rostering in dynasty leagues as he is developing into one of the best catching prospects in baseball and could even make a push to join Boston in the stretch run of this season.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MiLB.com

14 hours agoBoth Texas Rangers right-handers Tyler Mahle (elbow) and Kumar Rocker (elbow) threw bullpen sessions off the game mound recently for a biomechanical evaluation. Both Mahle and Rocker had their Tommy John elbow surgeries on May 22 of last year. A year later, both Mahle and Rocker are beginning to throw off a mound again, but they both still have work to do before they are cleared to start facing live hitters in games. Neither Mahle nor Rocker are likely to return to game action until after the All-Star break in mid-July. The 29-year-old Mahle had a solid 3.16 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 28 K's and five walks in his five starts for the Twins last year before going down. Rocker, the club's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will also be hoping to return to minor-league games in July, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to join the big-league club in 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Dallas Morning News - Evan Grant
Share:
14 hours agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Mark Canha (hip) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Boston Red Sox, This is bad timing with outfielder Kerry Carpenter (back) also sidelined currently. Hopefully this is only a minor issue, and Canha won't require a stint on the injured list. In the meantime, Andy Ibanez will replace him in the lineup, with Colt Keith serving as the designated hitter on Friday against Red Sox right-hander Tanner Houck.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Detroit Tigers
Share:
14 hours agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish (hamstring) is still being evaluated and could make his next scheduled start. The right-hander was removed from Wednesday's start after three innings due to a left hamstring issue. Depending on how he feels, Darvish could make his next start on Tuesday. Fantasy managers will have to wait and see as the Padres are taking it day-by-day right now. There should be an update on his status within the next day or two.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Kevin Acee

14 hours agoBoston Red Sox outfield prospect Roman Anthony has performed very well through May at Double-A Portland and is making a case to be moved up to Triple-A later this summer. Since May 1, the number two prospect in the Boston system has held a .280/.415/.453 line with one long ball, two swiped bags, 21 total hits, and an 18:23 BB:K ratio. This is a stark contrast to his April line, where he posted a mere .205/.310/.329 line with a much worse 11:28 BB:K ratio. The 20-year-old got a small taste of Double-A last summer but spent the majority of the season with Single and High-A. MLB Pipeline projects Anthony to reach the majors next season and is worth following closely in dynasty leagues.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MiLB.com
Share:
15 hours agoLos Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Adell is in the middle of a 1-for-30 slump at the plate. That being said, it's not shocking to see why the Halos would give him a night off. Recently, manager Ron Washington said Adell's starting spot was safe, so that means he should be back in the lineup following this game. In the meantime, Kevin Pillar will cover right field and bat fifth versus right-hander Bryan Woo on Friday.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: mlb.com
Share:
15 hours agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen (hamstring) has been placed on the 15-day injured list on Friday. This is frustrating news after Gallen was removed during his start on Thursday due to a hamstring issue. He is now set to miss time after manager Torey Lovullo said he was hopeful Gallen would avoid a stint on the injured list. In a corresponding move, right-hander Slade Cecconi has been recalled from Triple-A Reno. This seems like a move to add bullpen depth so it's uncertain what the D-Backs plan to do with the vacant rotation spot.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Jesse Friedman
Share:
15 hours agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Luke Raley (lat) has returned to the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The 29-year-old missed Thursday's game due to a lat issue, but appears to be fine now. Raley will cover left field and bat eighth versus right-hander Jose Soriano. This season, Raley is slashing .260/.299/.394 with four home runs and 12 RBI in 45 games.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: mlb.com
Share:
15 hours agoSt. Louis Cardinals infielder Brendan Donovan (neck) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 27-year-old is considered as day-to-day due to neck stiffness. This doesn't sound like the type of issue that would force Donovan onto the injured list. Dylan Carlson will take his place in the lineup and bat eighth versus right-hander Aaron Nola. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with Donovan sitting out.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: John Denton
Share:
15 hours agoHouston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Minnesota Twins. This is nothing more than a routine rest day for the 26-year-old slugger. Fantasy managers should expect Pena to be back in the lineup following this game. In the meantime, Mauricio Dubon will start in his place at shortstop and bat seventh versus right-hander Pablo Lopez.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: mlb.com
Share:
15 hours agoOakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Fantasy managers don't need to panic as this appears to be a routine rest day for Langeliers. In his absence, Kyle McCann will cover behind the plate and bat sixth versus right-hander Reynaldo Lopez. McCann has been solid with the bat during his time in Oakland but isn't a great streaming option for Friday's game.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: mlb.com
Share:
15 hours agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. The 29-year-old has been struggling at the plate, so this appears to be a routine rest day. This season, Arozarena is slashing .159/.258/.313 with eight home runs and 19 RBI. Jonny DeLuca will cover his spot in left field and bat fifth versus Albert Suarez on Friday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
