Detroit Tigers rookie third baseman
Jace Jung will retreat to the bench for a breather in Monday's series opener against the visiting Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park.
Zach McKinstry is handling hot-corner duties and will hit sixth against Red Sox right-hander
Tanner Houck. Jung has really struggled at the plate in his first 40 at-bats over 16 games played in just his second MLB season in 2025, recording four hits, driving in three, scoring six runs, walking seven times and striking out 13 times in 47 plate appearances. McKinstry has been better at the dish but offers minimal fantasy upside for DFS lineups on Monday. The 30-year-old has hit .274 (34-for-124) with only one home run, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored and three stolen bases early in the year for Detroit. In seven career at-bats versus Houck, he's hitting .143 with a .286 OPS.

Brayan Rocchio to Triple-A Columbus on Monday and recalled outfielder
Will Brennan from Columbus in a corresponding move. Rocchio will go down to the farm to work on his offensive skills after starting the 2025 season with a .165/.235/.198 slash line in 35 games this year. With the 24-year-old now out of the picture in Cleveland for the time being,
Gabriel Arias will start at shortstop and hit seventh on Monday against Milwaukee Brewers right-hander
Freddy Peralta. Brennan also draws into the starting lineup immediately for the series opener at Progressive Field, playing right field and batting ninth. Arias had already been seeing more playing time at the 6 with Rocchio struggling. The 25-year-old Venezuelan is slashing .264/.319/.416 with four long balls, 16 RBI 21 runs and two steals in his 125 at-bats in 2025.

Washington Nationals pitching prospect
Jarlin Susana (elbow) has been placed on the seven-day minor-league injured list with a Grade 1 UCL sprain. The team believes he's avoided a major injury that would require Tommy John surgery, but he'll be shut down from throwing and be re-evaluated in two weeks. The Nats' second-ranked prospect has a 4.15 ERA for Double-A Harrisburg, but a 16.4 percent walk rate takes some of the shine off of the righty's 31.1 percent strikeout rate, leading to an ugly 1.69 WHIP. Still, if the 6-foot-6 hurler can rein in some of the walks, he possesses a triple-digit fastball and a devastating slider that makes him an intriguing future fantasy asset. Assuming he won't require surgery, the 21-year-old is expected to make his big-league debut in 2026. Dynasty managers will want to keep an eye on him as he could be an impactful starter, but if the command isn't improved, he could be converted to a closer.

Detroit Tigers shortstop prospect
Kevin McGonigle (ankle) began a rehab assignment on May 10 at Single-A Lakeland, going 1-for-2 with a walk, a double, and a run scored in his first game back. The Tigers' second-ranked prospect (MLB No. 26) doubled twice and collected four RBI for High-A West Michigan on Opening Day, but suffered an ankle sprain that has caused him to miss over a month of the season. The left-handed hitter was fantastic last season at Single-A, slashing .326/.407/.470, with four home runs, 20 steals, and he walked more than he struck out in 60 games before earning a promotion to High-A. The former 37th-overall draft pick played 14 games at High-A before a hand injury ended his season prematurely. Hopefully the injuries aren't going to be a recurring issue, and look for the 20-year-old to rejoin High-A after his rehab is complete. He's still a couple of years away from the majors, but he is a talent that dynasty managers should keep tabs on.

Colton Gordon is a candidate to be recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land to start on Wednesday against the visiting Kansas City Royals. Gordon could temporarily join the team's starting rotation in the big leagues as they move to a six-man rotation. The 26-year-old southpaw is regarded as Houston's No. 14 prospect by MLB Pipeline and could be a short-term stop-gap to help fill in for the injured
Hayden Wesneski (elbow). The former eight-round pick in 2021 out of Central Florida has been sharp in eight starts at Triple-A, going 4-0 with a 2.55 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 43:8 K:BB in 42 1/3 innings. Gordon won't be a must-add in single-year fantasy leagues because he may only make a few starts. He leans on a low-velocity heater and sweeping slider to keep hitters off balance.

Knack will stick around in L.A.'s sixth-man starting rotation for the time being after he picked up his second win of the season against the Miami Marlins on May 7 by tossing five shutout innings with one walk and a season-high five strikeouts. You could certainly find worse streaming options than Knack in fantasy.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter
Anthony Santander (shoulder) missed the three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners over the weekend after his shoulder "felt cranky" after falling into the right-field seats against the Los Angeles Angels late last week. However, manager John Schneider said that Santander should be good for Tuesday's series opener against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. The 30-year-old was swinging the bat a bit better prior to his minor shoulder injury last Thursday, but fantasy managers are still waiting for more. The Venezuelan switch-hitting outfielder has so far been a disappointment in his first year in Toronto, slashing .196/.275/.336 with a .611 OPS, five home runs, 16 RBI and 12 runs scored in his 143 at-bats. Check back on Tuesday before throwing Santander back into your starting fantasy lineups.

Yariel Rodriguez has a .091 average against and a 33.3% strikeout rate. In low-leverage spots, Rodriguez has a .286 average against and a 20.5% strikeout rate. His soft-contact rate jumps 10.1% from low- to high-leverage spots, points out The Athletic's Mitch Bannon. The 28-year-old has averaged 96 mph with his fastball this year, but in the seventh and eighth innings in Thursday's win over the Los Angeles Angels, he touched 97.7 mph and showed more spin on all of his pitches. The Blue Jays could start leaning more on Rodriguez in late-inning, high-leverage situations, especially since they've been relying heavily on
Jeff Hoffman,
Yimi Garcia and
Brendon Little. Rodriguez is currently sporting a 4.26 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 21 strikeouts and eight walks in 19 innings over 16 outings (one start) in his second big-league season.

George Springer had a .206 average and .578 OPS on May 11 of last year, but things have been different so far in 2025. Springer hit three home runs in the team's three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners over the weekend and raised his OPS back over .900. The 35-year-old veteran is swinging at pitches in the zone 8.2% less, chasing 6.4% less and seeing more pitches per plate appearance than all but 34 MLB hitters, per The Athletic's Mitch Bannon. Springer has the highest walk rate of his career and is batting .387 against fastballs with 71% of his extra-base hits coming against the pitch. Three of Springer's five homers on the year have come in nine games in May, and he's hitting .273 (9-for-33) in the month so far. Along with a move down in the batting order, whatever mechanical adjustments he's made in 2025 have been paying off.

Texas Rangers corner infielder
Jake Burger could be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock before Monday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies, according to the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant. Burger has spent 10 days in the minors following his early-season demotion, so he's now eligible to return to the big-league roster if Texas wants him back. The 29-year-old right-handed slugger has gone 9-for-23 with two homers, a double, six RBI and five runs scored in his six games played for Round Rock, and he should be back with the Rangers this week as their regular first baseman despite hitting only .190/.232/.330 with a .562 OPS, three home runs, 12 RBI, 13 runs and 32 strikeouts in his first 30 games played for the team this year. Anyone looking for a corner-infield power in deeper fantasy leagues should consider scooping Burger up off the waiver wire if he's available.
