Giants Won't Commit to Russell Wilson as Week 2 Starter
Russell Wilson as the team's starting quarterback for Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys. Speaking after the team's season-opening loss to the Washington Commanders, Daboll would not give any indication whether he was leaning toward starting Wilson or rookie Jaxson Dart moving forward. Wilson turned in a subpar performance Sunday, completing just 17 of his 37 pass attempts for 168 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He also rushed for 44 yards and fumbled (but recovered it himself). While Wilson did play turnover-free football, he struggled to move the Giants down the field, ultimately executing zero touchdown drives and two field goal drives. It was previously reported that the Giants would feel comfortable giving Dart snaps as early as Week 1 if necessary, so perhaps he'll get onto the field sooner than we initially expected. Regardless of which New York quarterback starts next week, they'll rank as a QB3 in fantasy football.

Baker Mayfield Throws for Three Touchdowns in Low-Yardage Win
Baker Mayfield completed 17 of his 32 pass attempts for 167 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons. He also led the team with 39 rushing yards. Although Mayfield posted an abnormally low yardage total and low completion percentage, he excelled otherwise, playing turnover-free football and taking just one sack. All in all, it was a very rewarding day for his fantasy managers, and it even culminated in a three-point Buccaneers victory. Mayfield should continue to rank as a mid-range QB1 heading into next week's contest against the Houston Texans.

Michael Penix Jr. Scores Twice in Loss
Michael Penix Jr. threw for nearly 300 yards during the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He got the game started off quickly with a 50-yard passing touchdown to Bijan Robinson on the opening drive. The Bucs basically completely stopped the Falcons running game, but Penix was able to keep his team in the game with his arm. He completed 27-of-42 passing attempts for 298 yards and a touchdown. Penix also added 21 yards on the ground on six rushing attempts with an additional touchdown on the ground. The young quarterback was able to hold his own especially without Darnell Mooney (shoulder) and Drake London towards the end of the game. It was a nice season opener for Penix, but he'll have a tough challenge ahead of him against the Minnesota Vikings defense in Week 2.

Aaron Rodgers Throws Four Touchdowns in Week 1
Aaron Rodgers was surprisingly efficient during Sunday's season opener against the New York Jets. Coming into the season, fantasy managers weren't sure exactly what they were going to get from the 42-year-old quarterback. Clearly, Rodgers still has something left in the tank as he was sharp on Sunday. Rodgers completed 22-of-30 passing attempts for 244 yards and four touchdowns without any interceptions in the win. This was a close game until the end, but Rodgers was able to lead his team to a 34-32 victory. Maybe this was lightning in a bottle or a change of scenery gave Rodgers new life. Rodgers might be worth a look as a streaming option against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2.

Justin Fields Scores Three Times in Loss
Justin Fields came out ready to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. He got the fun started off early with a 33-yard touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson in the first quarter. Fields was held in check until he rushed for a two-yard touchdown in the third quarter. He wasn't done yet as Fields rushed into the end zone one more time to give his team the lead late in the fourth quarter. He finished this game 16-of-22 on passing attempts for 218 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. He also rushed the ball 12 times for 48 yards and an additional two scores. It was an awesome first game for Fields, but we'll see if he can keep the good times rolling against the tough Buffalo Bills defense in Week 2.

Daniel Jones Excellent in Colts Debut Sunday
Daniel Jones completed 22 of his 29 pass attempts for 272 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 1 victory over the Miami Dolphins. He also added 26 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. The former first-round pick played clean, turnover-free football and took just one sack in his Colts debut. Some of his productivity may have been aided by a matchup against Miami's poor defense, but it's also possible that Jones is embarking on a career resurgence in Indianapolis. He'll get a much tougher test next week when he faces the Denver Broncos. Heading into Week 2, Jones ranks as a mid-to-low QB2 option in fantasy football.

Jaxson Dart Active Over Jameis Winston in Week 1
Jaxson Dart is active and will operate as the team's backup for Week 1 against the Washington Commanders. Meanwhile, Jameis Winston is inactive as the team's emergency third quarterback. This depth chart decision from the coaching staff aligns with recent rumors that indicated Dart may have earned the backup job and could even make his NFL debut in Week 1. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport recently noted that the Giants have a package of plays ready for Dart, so it's possible that he could relieve starter Russell Wilson for a handful of snaps on Sunday afternoon. Still, Dart is merely a dynasty stash at this point, as he'd need to be inserted as the full-time starter before warranting any interest in redraft leagues. Meanwhile, Winston should be left on waivers in all leagues.

Kyler Murray Added to Injury Report with Illness, Will Play in Week 1
Kyler Murray (illness) has been added to the injury report ahead of Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. At first glance this is concerning, but Murray is still slated to start this game. Possibly, Murray does lose some fantasy value because he'll probably be playing at less than 100 percent. If he misses any snaps, Jacoby Brissett is the primary backup. Despite the illness, Murray should remain in the QB1 discussion with a plus-matchup against the Saints defense.

Giants Rookie Jaxson Dart Could Debut In Week 1
Jaxson Dart as early as Week 1. Rapoport reported that the Giants have a package of plays ready to go for the rookie from Ole Miss, which they are ready to deploy as soon as their season-opening game Sunday against Washington. The Giants signed veteran quarterback Russell Wilson to be their immediate starter, but the drumbeat is already going for Dart, who impressed during the preseason. The Giants traded back into the first round to select the rookie early this year, and the dynamic will be worth watching this season in Superflex and dynasty formats, especially.

Rams View Jimmy Garoppolo as a "Starting-Caliber Quarterback"
Jimmy Garoppolo as a "starting-caliber" option. Matthew Stafford is in line to start on Sunday versus the Houston Texans. However, with the veteran signal-caller battling a lingering back injury, the Rams are confident Garoppolo can fill in admirably if necessary. From a fantasy standpoint, Stafford has had a better career. Still, with concerns about his health, Garoppolo may get a chance to start at some point moving ahead. The 33-year-old played for the Patriots, 49ers, and Raiders before arriving in Los Angeles in 2024 to suit up for the Rams. In 82 regular-season contests, he's thrown for 15,828 yards, 96 touchdowns, and 52 interceptions off 67.4% passing while also leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2019. All things considered, Garoppolo doesn't have much fantasy value at the moment. If Stafford goes down this season due to the nagging back issue, Garoppolo could prove useful for those participating in deeper SuperFlex formats, especially with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams at his disposal.

Shedeur Sanders Unlikely to Play in 2025
Shedeur Sanders made the active roster to open the regular season. Despite that, Sanders is reportedly unlikely to see the field this season. Joe Flacco will begin the season as the starter with rookie Dillon Gabriel serving as the backup. Sanders will be on the roster, but it appears he's only going to be used as the emergency quarterback. Browns' general manager Andrew Berry believes there is a place for Sanders on the roster. It sounds like things would have to go very sideways for the Browns to bring Sanders onto the field. The 23-year-old is worth stashing in dynasty leagues, but isn't likely to play right away.

Jake Haener Waived by Saints
Jake Haener was cut by the organization on Saturday. Haener was waived by the team last week after falling behind Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough on the depth chart. Haener was brought back on the practice squad, but released again in order to sign defensive end Fadil Diggs. It's unclear if the Saints plan to bring back Haener again. He completed 18-of-39 passing attempts for 226 yards with one touchdown and one interception during the 2024 campaign. The 26-year-old might return to the Saints again if he clears waivers, but isn't worth rostering in fantasy formats.

Caleb Williams Faces Tough Vikings Defense
Caleb Williams kicks off his sophomore season on Monday Night Football against the division-rival Minnesota Vikings. As a rookie, the 2024 first-overall pick averaged 15.3 fantasy points per game, finishing as the QB16 on the year. Now, he enters Week 1 with a fresh start under new head coach Ben Johnson, the offensive mind behind Detroit's high-powered attack from 2022-2024. This matchup is no cakewalk, as Minnesota's defense allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks last season, while leading the league in interceptions forced. Still, Williams should benefit from an upgraded offensive line and a quarterback-friendly scheme designed to maximize his playmaking ability. For fantasy purposes, Williams has long-term upside, but given the tough Week 1 opponent, he's best viewed as a low-end QB2 in his 2025 opener.
