Blake Snell Completes 15-Pitch Bullpen Session Tuesday
Blake Snell (shoulder) completed a 15-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. It was Snell's first bullpen session since April. Snell revealed afterward that his shoulder wasn't pain-free until two weeks ago. The Dodgers signed Snell to a five-year, $182 million guarantee in free agency, but the two-time Cy Young winner hasn't pitched yet this season on account of his shoulder problems. He's obviously still a ways off from debuting this season, but it's a positive sign that he was able to get through Tuesday's throwing session unscathed.Source: Bill Plunkett - Orange County Register
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Lou Trivino Named Opener for Tuesday
Lou Trivino will serve as the opener ahead of Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers will go with a bullpen game here, which could be a hard task against a tough Padres lineup. Trivino will get the ball first with Matt Sauer likely pitching a bulk of the innings. The Dodgers appear to be in good hands with Trivino who is posting a 1.74 ERA and 1.16 WHIP since joining the team. He's not a great fantasy option here, but could offer some low-end value for managers looking for bullpen help.Source: mlb.com
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Will Smith Riding the Bench on Tuesday
Will Smith heads to the bench ahead of Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. Smith is absent from the starting lineup after starting in each of the last three games. During that span, Smith went 3-for-13 with a home run, three RBI, and a walk. In his absence, Dalton Rushing will start behind the plate and bat ninth versus right-hander Dylan Cease. Smith has been seeing more time on the bench lately, but that is likely due to the emergence of Rushing. Fantasy managers shouldn't be worried as Smith is hitting well enough to remain a mainstay in the lineup.Source: mlb.com
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Nathan Lukes Scratched on Tuesday
Nathan Lukes (neck) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The severity of the issue is unknown, but Lukes has been pulled from the lineup due to neck discomfort. For now, fantasy managers should consider Lukes as day-to-day until more information is revealed. The Jays will go with Alan Roden, Jonatan Clase, and Myles Straw in the outfield for Tuesday's contest. Straw figures to gain the most playing time if Lukes is forced to miss more games.Source: mlb.com
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jonah Heim Resting on Tuesday
Jonah Heim is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. This is a routine rest day for Heim who has been in a terrible slump at the plate. Heim is 4-for-40 over his last 13 games, which includes three straight hitless performances. Kyle Higashioka will take over behind the plate and bat ninth against right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson on Tuesday. Heim has decent power potential, but he isn't doing enough with the bat right now to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats.Source: mlb.com
Texas Rangers catcher Jorge Soler Returns to the Lineup
Jorge Soler (groin) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Athletics. Soler is back in action after missing each of the last two games due to a lingering groin issue. This doesn't appear to be a serious issue, but it is something that Soler has dealt with in the past. Soler will bat fifth and cover right field versus right-hander Mitch Spence on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups and get Soler back in there.Source: mlb.com
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Christian Yelich Absent on Tuesday
Christian Yelich is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. This appears to be a routine rest day for Yelich who has started in each of the last seven games. Over the last three games, Yelich is 1-for-9, so a rest day looks like it's needed. In his absence, Jake Bauers will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup versus right-hander Grant Holmes on Tuesday.Source: mlb.com
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Gabriel Moreno Returns from Three-Game Absence
Gabriel Moreno (hand) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Moreno has missed the last three games after getting hit in the right hand during Friday's game. He missed a few games due to inflammation in his hand, but appears to be ready to go now. Moreno has been crushing the ball lately, slashing .358/.393/.660 with three home runs and eight RBI over his last 15 games. He'll bat eighth and cover behind the plate versus right-hander Logan Evans on Tuesday.Source: mlb.com
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Logan Evans Recalled and Starting on Tuesday
Logan Evans from Triple-A Tacoma and to start on Tuesday on the road against the Arizona Diamondbacks with right-hander Bryce Miller (elbow) going back on the injured list. Right-hander Bryan Woo will be pushed back to Wednesday. This will be Evans' sixth start of his first year in the big leagues. The 24-year-old, who is considered the team's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has struck out only 25 hitters in 35 innings of work in his six starts, but he's only allowed 11 earned runs and walked 10 while going 3-1. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to stick around in Seattle's starting rotation beyond one start, though, with Logan Gilbert (elbow) potentially returning from the IL next week. Evans will be a pretty risky fantasy streamer on Tuesday night against a strong D-backs offense.Source: The Seattle Times - Tim Booth
The Seattle Mariners recalled rookie right-hander Jung Hoo Lee Back in Tuesday's Lineup
Jung Hoo Lee (back) is returning to center field and will bat leadoff on Tuesday against the division-rival Colorado Rockies and left-hander Carson Palmquist at Coors Field. Lee did not start the final two games of the weekend against the Atlanta Braves due to tightness in his back, but he's feeling better after a scheduled day off for travel on Monday. The 26-year-old only played in 37 games in his first season in the big leagues due to a shoulder injury that required surgery. He's already played in 64 games in 2025 and enters Tuesday's tilt slashing .276/.330/.436 with a .766 OPS, six homers, 32 RBI, 35 runs scored and six stolen bases. The Japanese outfielder has actually been better against lefties this year, going 19-for-62 (.306) against them with three of his six homers. Get Lee back in your lineups this week at hitter-friendly Coors Field.Source: MLB.com
San Francisco Giants outfielder Mitch Spence Making Another Start on Tuesday
Mitch Spence will remain in the starting rotation and get another turn on Tuesday on the road against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim. Spence made his first start of the season last Thursday in a win over the Minnesota Twins and looked good, allowing just one earned run on three hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out four in five innings of work. The 27-year-old could stick around even longer in a starting role if he shows well again on Tuesday, and he has the matchup to do it against an Angels squad that ranks 19th in the league with a .692 OPS. Spence's first 22 outings this year came in a relief role, and he's currently sporting a 4.09 ERA (3.91 FIP), a 1.27 WHIP, one save, 41 strikeouts and 15 walks in 44 innings pitched. He has an underwhelming 19.9% strikeout rate in his two big-league seasons and relies on keeping the ball on the ground.Source: MLB.com
Athletics right-hander Chris Taylor Goes on 10-Day Injured List With Fractured Hand
Chris Taylor (hand) on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left hand and added first baseman/outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. to the major-league roster in a corresponding move. Taylor was recently scooped up by the Halos after he was cut by the Los Angeles Dodgers, but the 34-year-old veteran only made it 10 games with the Angels before fracturing his hand on a hit-by-pitch in Monday's win over the Athletics. There's no timetable for when Taylor might be able to return, but it's a good bet we won't see him until the second half of the season. He had gone 6-for-30 (.200) with a homer, three RBI and a steal as a utility player for the Angels. Wade could see occasional start in the outfield against right-handed pitching but isn't anything more than a bench stash in AL-only leagues after being cut by the Giants earlier this year.Source: Angels PR
The Los Angeles Angels announced on Tuesday that they placed outfielder Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Taking the Day Off
Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not in the team's starting lineup on Tuesday in the second game of a series in St. Louis against the Cardinals. read more...
Shota Imanaga Needs a Few More Rehab Starts
Shota Imanaga (hamstring) will require a few more minor-league rehab starts before he returns to the major-league starting rotation. "Shota has got a couple more starts before you're going to see him in Chicago. That's because as a starter, you've got to go through this process where you're lengthened out and your arm recovers," Counsell said. The 31-year-old Japanese hurler threw two scoreless innings in his first rehab start on Monday at the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. If he can avoid setbacks in his next couple of rehab starts on the farm, we could see him back in Chicago by the end of June. He's been slow to recover from a strained left hamstring that has kept him out since early May, but fantasy managers should be stashing him everywhere. Imanaga had a 2.82 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 34 K's in 44 2/3 frames over eight starts before his injury.Source: 670 The Score
Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell said that left-hander Aaron Nola Probably Won't Return Until After All-Star Break
Aaron Nola's (ankle, rib) right rib cage, according to manager Rob Thomson. Nola will not throw for at least two weeks and now probably won't return from the injured list until after the All-Star break in mid-July. The 32-year-old veteran initially landed on the 15-day IL with a sprained right ankle, but now he's dealing with a much more worrisome injury. In addition to his injuries, the former All-Star wasn't good on the mound before his ankle injury this year, going 1-7 with a 6.16 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 52 punchouts and 16 walks in 49 2/3 innings over his nine starts. Fantasy managers will still want to stash Nola if they can, but his return is no longer imminent. Rookie Mick Abel should see a longer stay in Philly's rotation now, making him more attractive in shallower formats.Source: The Athletic - Matt Gelb
