Minnesota Twins pitching prospect
Connor Prielipp has been promoted to Triple-A St. Paul after 19 starts at Double-A. The Twins' 11th-ranked prospect per MLB.com posted a 3.65 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, and a 20.4 percent K-BB% in 61 2/3 innings pitched for Wichita. After having Tommy John and an internal brace procedure, the former second-round draft pick amassed just nine starts and 25 1/3 innings pitched coming into 2025 between Single-A and High-A since being drafted in 2022, so this is by far the most complete season he's pitched yet. With the injury history, though, the Twins may limit the 24-year-old over the remainder of the season. However, if the 6-foot-2 southpaw performs well at Triple-A, expect to see him in the big leagues at some point next year, although his fantasy value may be capped for a bit if the organization remains cautious in its approach.

Athletics starting pitcher
Luis Morales looked sharp on the mound during Saturday's outing against the Los Angeles Angels. The right-hander had mixed results during his first start when he tossed 2.2 scoreless innings, but walked five batters in the process. This time around, Morales was able to locate his pitches much better on the mound. He threw five innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five batters to earn his first career win in the MLB. Morales truly has the stuff to be a frontline starter in the league, but still has to work on his command. He figures to continue getting chances down the stretch with this being a lost season for the A's. There's some deep league streaming appeal here with Morales.

According to Laura Albanese, New York Mets starting pitcher
Nolan McLean will remain in the starting rotation going forward. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering how well McLean looked during his MLB debut. The 24-year-old tossed 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits, while walking four batters, and striking out eight. There are some command concerns because of the four walks, but the Mets will stick with McLean for now. The strikeouts upside makes him worth a look as a streaming option in all fantasy formats at the moment.

Texas Rangers right-hander
Jon Gray will remain with the team after going unclaimed on waivers, Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reports. Gray has about $3 million in salary left on his four-year, $56 million contract, but no team wanted to take a chance on him at that price tag. That isn't surprising, as the 33-year-old has posted dismal results since he made his season debut on July 23. After missing the first three-plus months of the year with a fractured forearm, the longtime starter has made six appearances out of the bullpen and recorded a 7.71 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP, 12 strikeouts, and six walks in 14 innings. Gray pitched in the Rangers' 14-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday and struggled again, giving up four earned runs on four hits, including two homers, with three strikeouts against three walks over 2 1/3 frames.

Los Angeles Dodgers relievers
Tanner Scott (elbow) and
Kirby Yates (back) will begin rehab assignments with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Scott has been on the 15-day injured list since July 22 with inflammation in his left elbow, while Yates has been on the shelf since July 29 with pain in his lower back. The Dodgers expect the two to return later this month, and they'll be glad to get both high-leverage relievers back for the last few weeks of the season as they battle the San Diego Padres for an NL West title. Fantasy managers should expect Scott to resume his role as the Dodgers' closer when he returns. Although Scott has had a relatively disappointing season, the Dodgers haven't found a better answer for the closer job in his absence. They have the majors' third-most blown saves (six) since the All-Star break.

Athletics outfielder
Denzel Clarke (hip) suffered a setback while on a rehab assignment on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. The Athletics will re-evaluate Clarke, who had just begun his Triple-A rehab on Friday. The 25-year-old landed on the 10-day injured list with a right adductor strain on July 21, and this setback should keep him out beyond the one-month mark. A rookie defensive standout, Clarke has hit .230/.274/.372 with three homers, eight RBI, 18 runs, and six steals over 47 games and 159 plate appearances.

Baltimore Orioles right-hander
Tyler Wells (elbow) lasted five innings in his third Triple-A rehab start on Friday. Wells allowed three earned runs on six hits and posted five strikeouts against one walk on 77 pitches (52 strikes). He's expected to make at least one more start with Triple-A Norfolk before pitching for the Orioles for the first time since April 2024. Wells underwent elbow surgery in June 2024 and has spent over a year recovering. He was a solid part of the O's rotation from 2022-23, a 48-appearance span in which he made 43 starts and logged a 3.93 ERA with 7.8 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 in 222 1/3 innings. With the 30-year-old continuing to build up his pitch count in the minors, he'll be a candidate to rejoin Baltimore's rotation when he comes back.

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder
Victor Scott II (ankle) sprained his left ankle and had to leave early on Saturday against the New York Yankees, John Denton of MLB.com reports. Scott suffered the injury trying to rob
Aaron Judge of a home run in the third inning. He stayed in the game and played through the discomfort until the Cardinals replaced him with pinch-hitter
Garrett Hampson in the sixth. Scott ended the night 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored, and the 24-year-old speedster is now hitting .223/.311/.312 with five homers, 35 RBI, 49 runs scored, and 31 stolen bases over 402 plate appearances. It's not yet clear whether he'll require a stint on the 10-day injured list.

Texas Rangers second baseman
Marcus Semien (hand) was absent from the starting lineup during Saturday's loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Semien missed this game after waking up on Saturday with a swollen wrist after getting hit by a pitch during Friday's contest. He underwent X-rays which came back negative for any fractures or serious damage. That being said, Semien could miss a few days until the swelling goes down, but he shouldn't require a stint on the injured list. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for another update on his status.

Kansas City Royals first baseman
Vinnie Pasquantino (illness) was removed early during Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox. Pasquantino was pulled out of the game after his first-inning strikeout due to a heat related illness. This doesn't sound like a serious issue, so Pasquantino should be back in the lineup in a day or two.
Nick Loftin took over at first base on Saturday. He could see a start or two over there if Pasquantino misses more time. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for another update.

Miami Marlins outfielder
Kyle Stowers (side) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Stowers was reportedly held out on Saturday as a precaution, but manager Clayton McCullough announced he's going to the shelf due to a Grade 1 left side strain. This is the type of injury that is going to take several weeks to heal. That being said, Stowers might not be back until possibly mid-September. That's a tough blow to the Marlins lineup considering Stowers breakout campaign. For now, fantasy managers should stash Stowers on their IR until more news is known.
Heriberto Hernandez started in left field on Saturday. Also, outfielder
Joey Wiemer was recalled to take over Stowers' spot on the active roster.

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher
Zack Wheeler (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Saturday. Wheeler is going to miss an unknown period of time due to blood clots near his right shoulder. This could explain why Wheeler has been struggling on the mound lately. The Phillies will take the cautious approach and shut down Wheeler for the time being. They haven't offered any timetable on Wheeler, but that probably won't be known until they see how he responds to treatment. The loss of Wheeler means the Phillies probably won't be going with a six-man rotation anymore. Wheeler has been excellent this season with a 2.71 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a league-leading 195 strikeouts in 24 starts this season. Fantasy managers will need to stay tuned for more updates on his status.

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher
Daniel Palencia (illness) didn't take the mound during the ninth inning of Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Instead,
Brad Keller was tasked with recording the final three outs on Saturday. Afterwards, manager Craig Counsell said that Palencia was feeling under the weather, so they gave him a day off. This probably wasn't a bad idea considering Palencia gave up the go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth inning on Friday. Despite that, Palencia has been excellent with a 1.85 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a 46/11 K/BB ratio with 16 saves this season. He figures to return to his gig as the primary closer in a few days.

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder
Josh Lowe (oblique) was scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the San Francisco Giants. He was originally penciled in to play right field, but will now head to the bench due to oblique tightness. For now, fantasy managers can consider Lowe as day-to-day, but oblique issues often times result in injured list stints.
Everson Pereira will move into the lineup and cover center field while
Jake Mangum slides into right field. Fantasy managers should check back for another update on Lowe.

Houston Astros outfielder
Yordan Alvarez (hand) was able to take eight live at-bats in West Palm Beach on Saturday. Now, Alvarez will return to Houston on Sunday to determine the next steps in his rehab process. Alvarez has been sidelined since early May due to a fractured hand. That being said, Alvarez is likely going to need a lengthy rehab assignment before rejoining the Astros lineup. Barring any setbacks, Alvarez should hopefully be able to return to Houston by September. Fantasy managers might still be able to get something out of Alvarez this season. Fantasy managers will need to check back for another update.
