Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said that running back Miles Sanders (knee) could miss a couple of days with a left knee bruise, but that the team does not have a lot of concern about the injury. Sanders has been out of action since Thursday, and it appears as though he'll miss the early part of the upcoming week as well. The veteran running back signed with Dallas in March after spending the past two seasons with the Carolina Panthers. In 11 games (two starts) for Carolina in 2024, Sanders recorded 353 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on 79 total touches. He's competing with fellow free-agent signee Javonte Williams and fifth-round rookie Jaydon Blue for playing time in the Cowboys' backfield. While there's an opportunity for him to earn a role in Dallas, Sanders probably offers the lowest upside of the three backs and is unlikely to win the job outright.--Will BradySource: The Dallas Morning News - Joseph Hoyt

Indianapolis Colts rookie running back DJ Giddens has stood out in training camp and looks like "the most talented backup the Colts have ever had" to star running back Jonathan Taylor, according to Destin Adams of A to Z Sports. A fifth-round pick out of Kansas State, Giddens gained over 1,600 yards from scrimmage in 12 games last season for the Wildcats. Early reporting out of Colts' camp indicates that the 21-year-old is leading the RB2 battle over veterans Khalil Herbert and Tyler Goodson. While Taylor is likely to dominate carries in Indianapolis, Giddens could earn his way onto the field on passing downs and make an impact as a receiver out of the backfield. If he continues his strong play throughout the preseason, Giddens could emerge as a valuable late-round handcuff option in fantasy.--Will BradySource: A to Z Sports - Destin Adams

Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter (back) is dealing with back spasms and will not play Saturday against the Seattle Mariners, according to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Carter may head to the 10-day injured list, but the Rangers haven't made a decision yet. This is a concerning issue for Carter, who has a history of back problems and missed most of the 2024 season with a lumbar sprain. The 22-year-old was on the IL earlier this season with a quad strain and has batted a modest .238/.323/.381 with four homers, 21 RBI, 27 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases in a career-high 189 plate appearances. Carter was highly productive in June, but he has gone just 12-for-69 (.174) with no home runs in 22 games since July 4.--Connor ByrneSource: Kennedi Landry - MLB.com

New York Mets right-hander Max Kranick (elbow) recently underwent surgery to repair his flexor tendon, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic. It was previously believed that Kranick would require Tommy John surgery for the second time, so this is positive news for the 28-year-old. While Kranick won't pitch again in 2025, he could return to the Mets' bullpen sometime next season. Kranick ended the year 3-2 with a 3.65 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, 25:5 K:BB, and five holds in 37 innings.--Connor ByrneSource: Will Sammon - The Athletic

Baltimore Orioles left-hander Cade Povich (hip) will come off the 15-day injured list to start against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, interim manager Tony Mansolino announced. It'll be the first start since June 16 for Povich, who has missed a month and a half with inflammation in his left hip. The 25-year-old went 2-5 with a 5.15 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and 68 strikeouts against 23 walks in 64 2/3 innings before going on the IL. Povich built up to 86 pitches in his most recent rehab start, so he shouldn't face any restrictions against Philadelphia. The Phillies will be a tough draw for Povich, though, as they rank 10th in the majors in runs and own the league's seventh-best wOBA versus southpaws (.322).--Connor ByrneSource: Matt Weyrich - The Baltimore Sun

The Baltimore Orioles scratched outfielder Tyler O'Neill (illness) because of an illness on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs. Gunnar Henderson will DH in O'Neill's place and hit third, and Luis Vazquez will handle shortstop and occupy the No. 9 position in the lineup. O'Neill struggled mightily earlier in the year and has missed a significant amount of time with injuries, but he has found his power stroke again over the past month. Since July 4, the 30-year-old has gone 14-for-58 with five homers, 11 RBI, and 10 runs scored in 17 games.--Connor ByrneSource: Roch Kubato - MASNSports.com

Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena (hamstring) is not in the lineup Saturday against Boston Red Sox right-hander Walker Buehler. Carlos Correa will take over at short and hit third, while Ramon Urias will man third base and bat ninth. Pena left Friday's game early with hamstring cramps, but he was confident afterward that he would play Saturday. That won't be the case, and it's unclear if Pena's dealing with a serious injury or if the Astros are merely playing it safe with him. Pena just returned Friday after missing over a month with a small fracture in his rib. The additions of Correa and Urias, acquired before Thursday's trade deadline, soften the blow of Pena's absence for Houston.--Connor ByrneSource: MLB.com

The Dallas Cowboys placed wide receiver Parris Campbell (knee) on season-ending Injured Reserve on Saturday and officially signed offensive tackle La'el Collins in a corresponding move. Campbell suffered an MCL sprain in training camp practice last season and will now miss the entire 2025 campaign in his first year with Dallas. The 28-year-old was originally taken in the second round (59th overall) in 2019 out of Ohio State by the Indianapolis Colts, and he spent the first four years of his NFL career in Indy. Injuries have played a big part in Campbell being a disappointment, as he played just 15 games in his first three years. After a career year with a 63-623-3 line in his final season with the Colts in 2022, Campbell joined the Giants for a year in 2023 and played in only five games for the Eagles last season.--Keith HernandezSource: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (hand) got another day off at training camp on Saturday due to his sore throwing hand, but head coach Todd Bowles said that Mayfield will return to practice next week. Mayfield injured his right hand during practice on Thursday when it hit a teammate on a follow-through. The 30-year-old thankfully avoided a serious injury, but the Bucs will give him a little time off this weekend to rest. Mayfield should be back on the field next week and ready to go for the start of the 2025 season in early September. Despite having to work with a new offensive coordinator for yet another season, Mayfield was a Pro Bowler for the second straight season in 2024 and had a career-high 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns, but he also led the league with 16 picks. Tampa's offense remains largely intact, and while fantasy managers can't expect another 40-TD season, Mayfield is at least in the low-end QB1 conversation.--Keith HernandezSource: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith

The Colorado Rockies placed right-handed pitcher Antonio Senzatela (finger) on the 15-day injured list with a right middle finger blister. The designation to the injured list comes one day after he was shelled for eight earned runs in 2/3 of an inning against the Pirates. It is unclear if his blistered finger was the reason for his recent struggles, but he will miss at least two weeks of action nonetheless. Over 103 innings pitched this season, the 30-year-old has posted a 7.34 ERA, a 1.91 WHIP, all while striking out just 55 batters. He can remain on the waiver wire in most leagues.--Dave Funnell - RotoBallerSource: Rockies Club Information

The Indianapolis Colts took rookie tight end Tyler Warren with the 14th overall pick in April's NFL draft, and it hasn't taken him long to impress the coaching staff at training camp this summer. Offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said, "We're putting a lot on his plate. I think he's going to be a very versatile piece for us. We're going to try a bunch of different stuff with him, give him a bunch of shots at a bunch of different aspects playing offensive football." After a slow start to camp, the 23-year-old is starting to make explosive plays in practice, and he's already lined up in the backfield as well. At Penn State in 2024, Warren had 1,233 yards and 11 touchdowns and also ran the ball for 218 yards and four TDs. Warren could immediately become a TE1 in fantasy in his first NFL season, but it's Indy's shaky QB situation that could bring him down.--Keith HernandezSource: The Associated Press

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby was in on the team's entire first drive of their scrimmage on Friday at training camp, and Travis Etienne Jr. and rookie Bhayshul Tuten weren't seen at all. It's just a scrimmage early in camp, but it's worth noting as Bigsby looks to take control of a bigger part of Jacksonville's backfield under new head coach Liam Coen in 2025. During practices, both Bigsby and Etienne have been rotating work with the first-team offense, so the Jags could use a straight committee approach to their running game. RotoBaller has Etienne ranked as the RB33 this year, with Bigby checking in at No. 50. Bigsby was impressive last year, though, rushing for 766 yards and seven touchdowns on 168 carries (4.6 yards per tote). He could command a larger share of touches in 2025, but his lack of passing-game prowess hurts his overall fantasy upside.--Keith HernandezSource: Jason Hamby

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young and rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan are "still working on their timing in the passing game," according to Joseph Person of The Athletic. Person writes that Carolina's defensive backs have consistently challenged McMillan with press coverage, and the rookie is still adjusting to the increased level of physicality. The number eight overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, McMillan recorded 84 catches for 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns in 12 games for the University of Arizona last season. He has the opportunity to step in and be the Panthers' number one target-earner right away. However, Carolina also has veteran Adam Thielen and 2024 first-rounder Xavier Legette in their receiver room. It's no surprise that McMillan and Young are still working on building chemistry this early in training camp, but it's something to monitor throughout the course of the preseason.--Will BradySource: The Athletic - Joseph Person

The Portland Trail Blazers guaranteed the $2.22 million salary of forward/center Duop Reath on Friday. The 29-year-old averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 rebounds as a rookie in 2023. However, it was a different story in 2024, with Reath amassing 4.2 points and 2.0 boards in 46 regular-season contests. He can play both the four and five spots. Still, the Blazers have depth at both positions, meaning Reath could have trouble finding consistent playing time throughout the 2025 campaign, giving him little-to-no value in any fantasy format. On the other hand, his stock might rise if there is an injury, which could open the door for streaming opportunities for fantasy managers.--Dennis ClausenSource: Michael Scotto

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders (arm soreness) did not participate in team drills during Cleveland's training camp practice on Saturday, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Cabot reports that veteran Joe Flacco and rookie Dillon Gabriel took all the team reps, with quarterback Kenny Pickett (hamstring) joining Sanders on the sideline. It does not sound as though this is expected to be a serious injury for Sanders, but the exact nature of the ailment is unclear. The Browns are holding an open competition for the starting quarterback job in camp, but early reporting indicates that Flacco is the heavy favorite to begin the season under center. Sanders has a long way to go before he's even the primary backup in Cleveland, so any further missed time would be detrimental to his 2025 outlook.--Will BradySource: Cleveland.com - Mary Kay Cabot

New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo (hamstring) suffered a "setback" in his recovery from a hamstring injury during the team's practice on Friday, according to Giants head coach Brian Daboll. Skattebo is officially considered day-to-day but is expected to miss some time. The Giants had been holding Skattebo out of team drills to manage the injury earlier this week, but it appears as though he'll now need a full shutdown for at least a few days. Skattebo was a workhorse in his final collegiate season at Arizona State in 2024. In 13 games, he recorded 2,316 yards from scrimmage and 24 touchdowns on 338 total touches. Skattebo is expected to share time in the Giants' backfield this season with second-year back Tyrone Tracy Jr. and possibly veteran Devin Singletary as well. With each day he misses due to this hamstring injury, Skattebo is losing out on valuable training camp reps.--Will BradySource: NFL.com

The Pittsburgh Pirates reinstated left-hander Ryan Borucki (back) from the 15-day injured list on Friday. Borucki will return to Pittsburgh's bullpen for the first time since he went on the IL in the middle of June with a lower-back injury. The 31-year-old will remain off the fantasy radar moving forward, even though the Pirates have more opportunity for late-inning work after they traded David Bednar to the New York Yankees at this week's deadline. Borucki, a former 15th-rounder by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2012, will return to a 5.26 ERA (4.31 FIP) and 1.25 WHIP with 22 strikeouts and 11 walks in 25 2/3 innings pitched this year. He has never saved a game in his eight major-league seasons and is unlikely to change that the rest of the way in 2025 with Dennis Santana now locked into the team's closer role.--Keith HernandezSource: Pittsburgh Pirates

San Francisco Giants right-hander Kai-Wei Teng was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento and will make the start on Saturday at Citi Field against the hosting New York Mets for his first appearance in the big leagues in 2025. The 26-year-old allowed 15 hits and 12 runs in 11 innings in his first taste of the majors last year for the Giants, but he had a 3.67 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 54 innings for the Rivercats on the farm this year and was impressive in July, with a 0.52 ERA and 31 punchouts in 17 1/3 innings pitched. Fantasy managers will want to avoid him against the Mets this weekend, though, as he hasn't made a start since July 13. Teng's last time out with Sacramento was for 1 2/3 innings of relief. The matchup is bad and Teng isn't going to go very deep in this one. Stay away.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

New York Jets running back Isaiah Davis was "making plays as both a runner and receiver" in the team's training camp practice on Saturday, according to Jake Asman of ESPN Radio. A fifth-round draft pick in 2024, Davis recorded 249 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on 39 total touches across 17 games for the Jets as a rookie. The 23-year-old is behind Breece Hall and Braelon Allen on the Jets running back depth chart, but early reporting from training camp indicates that the team plans to go with a committee approach in the backfield. Davis would likely need an injury to either Hall or Allen to be fantasy-relevant in 2025, but he's a name to monitor throughout the preseason.--Will BradySource: Jake Asman

Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober (hip) was activated from the 15-day injured list on Saturday and will make the start for Game 2 of the series in Cleveland against the division-rival Guardians at Progressive Field. Ober is returning for the first time since July 2 due to a left-hip impingement. The 30-year-old won't be a recommended streaming option in his return since he's been too inconsistent in 2025 with a 4-6 record, 5.28 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and only 74 strikeouts in 92 innings over his 17 starts. In his final minor-league rehab start, Ober got up to 65 pitches and five innings, so he should be pretty stretched out for Saturday's appearance. The matchup against Cleveland is a nice one, though, as they rank 27th in baseball with a .676 OPS. Ober has been good against the Guards this year, too, with a 1.69 ERA and five strikeouts in his two starts against them.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that running back Breece Hall has the skill set to make a huge impact in the passing game, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. In 40 career games for the Jets, Hall has recorded 152 catches for 1,292 yards and eight receiving touchdowns. It sounds as though New York would like to expand Hall's role in the passing game even further, with Glenn stating that he is "a guy you can split out wide and run a route tree." Previous reporting has indicated that the Jets plan to split the rushing workload more evenly amongst Hall and fellow running backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. That would put an increased emphasis on Hall's pass-catching ability to carry him in fantasy. He's currently ranked as RB11 for PPR leagues, and RB13 in standard scoring.--Will BradySource: The Athletic - Zack Rosenblatt

Tampa Bay Rays rookie outfielder Chandler Simpson (finger) remains out of action for Saturday's contest against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Jonny DeLuca is making another start in center field for the Rays and will bat seventh against Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell (shoulder), who is making his first start since coming off the 60-day injured list. Simpson sprained his left index finger on Thursday against the New York Yankees and will miss his second straight start. The Rays have faced left-handers the last two games, too, so perhaps Tampa is just waiting to face a righty again to get the speedy rookie back in the lineup. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Sunday to see if Simpson makes his return. DeLuca is still searching for his first homer of 2025, but he's also had only 40 at-bats and is hitting a cool .400 with four RBI and five steals in a small sample size.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Joe Ross (back) made a rehab appearance with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday, throwing a scoreless inning while allowing one hit and striking out two. Ross is on the 15-day injured list while recovering from back spasms and last pitched in the big leagues on July 20. In 44 1/3 innings (31 games) with the Phillies this season, Ross has pitched to a 5.28 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 34 strikeouts. The 32-year-old has made 87 starts in his career but has been almost exclusively utilized in a middle relief role in 2025. He will likely need only one or two more rehab appearances before rejoining the Phillies' bullpen.--Will BradySource: MLB.com

San Francisco Giants first baseman/designated hitter Wilmer Flores (hamstring) was pulled early from his team's 4-3 win over the New York Mets on Friday night and is dealing with hamstring tightness, according to Susan Slusser of The San Francisco Chronicle. Flores has not yet been placed on the injured list, so it's unclear whether this will be an extended absence for him or a more day-to-day injury. The 33-year-old is hitting .249/.318/.380 with 12 home runs, 59 RBI, and 36 runs scored in 380 plate appearances so far in 2025. He did most of his damage in the early part of the season, hitting 10 home runs before the end of May and just two since the calendar flipped to June. First baseman Dominic Smith could be in line for more playing time if Flores were to miss time.--Will BradySource: The San Francisco Chronicle - Susan Slusser

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Robert Gasser (elbow) is being built up as a starter as he makes his way back from Tommy John surgery, according to Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Hogg relays that Gasser could be moved to a relief role late in the season if a need opens up with the team. Gasser last pitched in the big leagues in June 2024. In his three rehab appearances so far, he's thrown four innings, allowing two earned runs and one walk while striking out four. The Brewers have excellent pitching depth between both their major league and Triple-A rosters. Even when Gasser is healthy, he could be behind current minor leaguers Logan Henderson, Chad Patrick, and Tobias Meyers as candidates to join the big league rotation.--Will BradySource: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Curt Hogg

Boston Red Sox right-handed pitcher Tanner Houck (elbow), who was recently transferred to the 60-day injured list, is unlikely to return to the team in 2025. Houck was all set to return late in July, but after suffering a setback in his rehab assignment, he was shut down indefinitely. If Houck does not return, he will finish the season with a very disappointing 8.04 ERA, a 1.69 WHIP, and a career-low 15.8% strikeout rate over 43 2/3 innings. It remains to be seen what his role will be with the Red Sox beyond this year, whether as a starter or a reliever.--Dave Funnell - RotoBallerSource: Tim Healey
