Thomas White Racks up Seven Punchouts
Thomas White continued to flash immense strikeout upside at Double-A Pensacola. In his most recent outing on August 2, the southpaw struck out an impressive seven hitters across just 4 2/3 innings of work. In this start against Biloxi, White allowed six hits, two walks, and two earned runs. In his previous outing, the top-ranked prospect in Miami struck out a season-high 14 hitters across five shutout innings with just two hits allowed. Since moving up to Double-A this season, White has posted a strong 2.55 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, with a 40:12 K:BB across 24 2/3 innings. He opened the season with High-A and posted a 2.83 ERA with 53 strikeouts across 35 innings of work. White is a name to keep a close eye on as he could push for a mid-season 2026 MLB debut.Source: MiLB.com
Miami Marlins left-handed pitching prospect Aidan Miller Extends Hitting Streak on Wednesday
Aidan Miller has continued to find his footing in the batter's box. On Wednesday evening, facing Double-A New Hampshire, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the system went 1-for-5 with a double and a stolen base. This performance extended his hitting streak to eight games. During this stretch, Miller has posted an elite .387/.486/.613 slash line with four doubles, one home run, and three stolen bases. The 21-year-old has spent the entire 2025 campaign at Double-A Reading. During his first extended look at the level, Miller has struggled at times but appears to be turning the corner. However, he has continued to show immense speed upside, swiping 40 bags in just 85 games. Miller will likely debut at Triple-A early in the 2026 season.Source: MiLB.com
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop prospect Kaelen Culpepper Enjoying Surge at Double-A
Source: MiLB.com
Minnesota Twins shortstop prospect Kaelen Culpepper is enjoying a productive surge at the plate at Double-A Wichita. Over his last 10 games, Culpepper hasp osted a strong .357/.413/.619 slash line with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, and four stolen bases. The No. 4-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com opened the campaign at the High-A level but was moved up to Double-A after a strong start. Through 54 games with High-A, he held a .293/.385/.479 slash line with a strong .864 OPS. Through his first 32 games with Double-A, Culpepper has looked even more impressive, posting a .343/.409/.545 line with a strong .954 OPS. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on him, as he could open the 2026 season with Triple-A St. Paul.Kevin McGonigle Tallies Three Hits on Wednesday
Kevin McGonigle went 3-for-4 with a triple during their contest against Double-A Richmond on Wednesday evening. McGonigle entered this game in a bit of a slump, going 0-for-7 over his last two games. However, the top prospect was able to snap this skid rather quickly. Since joining Double-A this season, McGonigle has been nothing short of impressive, holding a .290/.375/.507 line with an .882 OPS. During this 18-game stretch, McGonigle has hit seven doubles, two home runs, and swiped three bags. Earlier in the season, McGonigle posted an elite .372/.462/.648 line across a stint at High-A West Michigan. Given his quick progression through the Detroit system, McGonigle could be in the mix to debut in the majors next season.Source: MiLB.com
Detroit Tigers infield prospect Brandon Sproat Punches Out Nine in Latest Start
Brandon Sproat struck out nine hitters in his latest start on July 31. In this outing, Sproat allowed just three hits and no runs across five innings. He served up three walks. This was a nice bounce-back outing for the budding ace as he allowed two runs with two walks in his previous start on July 25. Before this game, Sproat was riding an incredible 23-straight inning shutout streak. During this stretch, Sproat struck out 27 hitters while allowing only six walks with eight total hits. While he had a slow start to the season, the Florida product has been one of the best pitchers at Triple-A during the second half. Given his strong resurgence, he should be in the mix to debut in the majors in the coming weeks.Source: MiLB.com

James Tibbs III Goes 4-for-4 With Two Homers on Wednesday
James Tibbs III had a day to remember, as he went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI against Double-A Corpus Christi. The lefty outfielder has been involved in two trades this season, with the first being the Rafael Devers deal, and he recently dealt to Los Angeles in the Dustin May deal at the July 31 deadline. He is making a strong first impression with his new team in the early going. Tibbs began the year at High-A with the Giants and has been moved to Double-A with his new clubs and is slashing .237/.363/.417 with 15 homers and five steals across the two levels. He projects as a strong-side platoon bat in the future by scouts and is in a favorable player development system with the Dodgers.Source: MiLB.com

Hagen Smith Wild, But Effective Over Five Innings
Hagen Smith picked up the win on Wednesday as he allowed two runs on four hits and five walks while striking out six across five innings against Double-A Chattanooga. The five walks were the second-highest in a start this season for the lefty, but he managed to limit the damage otherwise. His swing and miss stuff was on display despite his lack of control, with 18 swings and misses. It's been a solid season for the 2024 fifth overall pick, despite not moving quite as quickly through the White Sox system as some anticipated. The 21-year-old missed some time this year due to injury, and the walks have been a real concern. He holds a 3.60 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a 75:37 K:BB ratio through 50 innings at Double-A. Managers in dynasty leagues should still have high hopes while also keeping a close eye on his development track.Source: MiLB.com

Samuel Basallo Homers Again
Samuel Basallo went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI against Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday. The 20-year-old phenom showed off his impressive power to all areas of the field, crushing a 1-1 changeup to left-center field. He's now homered for the third consecutive game and has multiple RBIs in three of his last four. This monster stretch during August has nudged his season-long OPS over 1.000 as he's compiled 23 homers in 71 games. His .335 isolated slugging is the best among all Triple-A hitters. Basallo has some of the best raw power of any prospect with a smooth, adaptable lefty swing that allows him to hit for damage on a variety of pitch locations. The quality of contact is absurd, and he makes plenty of contact to not be overly concerned with the swing and miss. He should be viewed as the best prospect in baseball and stashed away in fantasy leagues for his eventual arrival.Source: MiLB.com
Baltimore Orioles catcher prospect Isaac Paredes Transferred to 60-Day Injured List
Isaac Paredes (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday. The move means Paredes won't be eligible to return until mid-September, and it's up in the air whether he'll play again this year. Paredes went on the IL on July 20 with a significant right-hamstring strain, which could go down as a season-ending injury. The 26-year-old earned his second straight All-Star invitation in the first half after slashing .259/.359/.470 with 19 homers, 50 RBI, and 51 runs scored over 409 plate appearances. Paredes recently underwent a PRP injection and is putting off surgery in hopes of coming back this year. If he's unable to do that, the Astros are prepared to go without him after acquiring Carlos Correa and Ramon Urias at last week's trade deadline.Source: Matt Kawahara - Houston Chronicle
The Houston Astros moved third baseman Tim Elko Goes Deep on Wednesday
Tim Elko went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 6-0 win against Triple-A Syracuse. Elko was activated from the IL and optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, and didn't wait long to get back to doing damage at the plate. He's now up to 19 homers and a .315/.385/.610 slash line in 270 plate appearances at the level. The quality of contact is excellent for Elko, with a 52.6 percent hard-hit rate and 12.8 percent barrel rate. The slugging first baseman came up to the majors for a brief period, but his swing and miss issues were on display with a 41.8 percent strikeout rate. The 26-year-old did slug four homers in that time and continued to hit the ball hard when he did make contact. There's a good possibility Elko returns to the majors before the season ends, and he's a decent option for fantasy managers looking for cheap power in deep formats and AL-only leagues.Source: MiLB.com
Chicago White Sox first base prospect Spencer Arrighetti Roughed Up in Return From Injury
Spencer Arrighetti came off the injured list to make his first start since April 5 on Wednesday. It didn't go well. Facing the Miami Marlins, Arrighetti fell to 1-2 after coughing up five earned runs on a whopping 11 hits over 3 2/3 innings in a 6-4 loss. He threw 88 pitches (56 for strikes) and posted five strikeouts against one walk in his return from a thumb injury that shelved him for four months. The 25-year-old has made three starts this season and notched a 7.42 ERA (4.69 FIP) with a 1.58 WHIP, 13 strikeouts, and six walks in 13 1/3 frames. Arrighetti is scheduled to get the ball again on Tuesday, but he's in for a challenge with the Boston Red Sox coming to town.Source: ESPN
Houston Astros right-hander Erik Miller to Begin Triple-A Rehab Assignment on Friday
Erik Miller (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Friday. Miller has been out for just over a month with a sprained left elbow, though he could come back sometime in August if he doesn't suffer any setbacks. The 27-year-old has recorded a minuscule 1.50 ERA with 10 holds across 36 appearances and 30 innings this season. However, his success in preventing runs has come despite a lackluster 22:20 K:BB. With a 4.38 xERA, a 3.95 FIP, and a 5.10 xFIP, Miler is likely to face negative regression when he comes back this season.Source: MLB.com
San Francisco Giants left-handed reliever Gabriel Moreno Throws Out to 90 Feet, Catches Bullpen Session
Gabriel Moreno (finger) threw out to 90 feet and caught right-hander Zac Gallen's bullpen session on Tuesday, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports. Moreno also hit off a tee for the second straight day as he continues working back from a hairline fracture in his right index finger. The 25-year-old hasn't played since June 14, but a CT scan came back clean Monday, paving the way for a potential mid-August return. Moreno hit .270/.324/.414 with five homers, 20 RBI, and 29 runs scored over 188 plate appearances before he went on the IL. James McCann and Jose Herrera have split catching duties for Arizona in Moreno's absence.Source: Alex Weiner - Arizona Sports
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Jaycee Horn Misses Wednesday's Practice
Source: Adam Schefter
Carolina Panthers defensive back Jaycee Horn (hand) did not participate in Wednesday's practice. According to Adam Schefter, Horn was involved in a car crash prior to Wednesday's practice. Head coach Dave Canales said Horn required stitches on his left hand. The Panthers have already ruled out Horn for the preseason opener on Friday. This doesn't sound like the type of issue that would force Horn to miss any time in the regular season. He's currently projected to be the starting defensive back alongside Mike Jackson. Last season, Horn recorded 49 tackles, two sacks, and one interception in 15 games.Kevin Ginkel Transferred to 60-Day Injured List
Kevin Ginkel (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL. The team selected the contract of righty Casey Kelly from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move. This concludes a disastrous season for Ginkel, who went on the IL on Monday with a shoulder sprain and is now ineligible to return in 2025. Ginkel was effective out of the Diamondbacks' bullpen from 2022-24, a 164 2/3-inning span in which he notched a 2.95 ERA. This season was a different story, though. The 31-year-old battled shoulder troubles throughout the campaign and spiraled to a 7.36 ERA with a 1.64 WHIP, 29:13 K:BB, six holds, and three saves over 25 1/3 innings.Source: Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks announced that they have transferred right-handed reliever Wade Miley Throws Bullpen, Will Face Hitters Friday
Wade Miley (forearm) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and will face live hitters Friday, manager Terry Francona announced. Miley hit the 15-day injured list with a flexor strain on June 20. The Reds have shifted Miley to the 60-day IL since then, meaning he'll be eligible to return on Aug. 19. The 38-year-old journeyman made three appearances (two starts) in June and struggled to a 6.75 ERA with 15 hits allowed, seven strikeouts, and six walks in 12 innings. Miley will continue to stay off the fantasy radar if he makes it back this season.Source: Casey Drottar - MLB.com
Cincinnati Reds left-hander Marcus Mariota Dealing with Leg Injury
Marcus Mariota (leg) won't travel with the team for their preseason opener against the New England Patriots. Head coach Dan Quinn said on Wednesday that Mariota is dealing with a mild lower leg strain. Luckily, it sounds like a minor injury as Quinn said his level of concern was low. The Commanders will take the cautious approach and rest their backup quarterback. Mariota served as the backup to Jayden Daniels last season. He completed 34-of-44 passing attempts for 364 passing yards and four touchdowns in three games with Washington last year. There won't be any fantasy value here with Mariota while Daniels is healthy. Sam Hartman figures to see the bulk of the snaps in the preseason opener.Source: Nicki Jhabvala
Washington Commanders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo Looking Good in Camp
Jimmy Garoppolo is reportedly looking good in training camp. Garoppolo is getting the bulk of the first-team reps with Matthew Stafford (back) currently sidelined. Head coach Sean McVay has downplayed Stafford's back issues and believes he'll be ready to go by Week 1. In the meantime, Garoppolo has looked impressive with the first-team offense. He continues building chemistry with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. It sounds like Stafford is going to be fine, but at least they have a capable backup in Garoppolo if they need to use him.Source: therams.com
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Tanner Scott Throws First Bullpen Session Since Injury
Tanner Scott (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday for the first time since he went on the 15-day injured list on July 22, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Scott, who's working back from elbow inflammation, got through the session without any issues. He'll throw one or two more bullpens before progressing to face live hitters, according to the team. The 31-year-old has served as the Dodgers' primary closer this season and logged a mediocre 4.14 ERA (up from 1.75 in 2024) with a 1.16 WHIP and 50:11 K:BB in 45 2/3 innings. With Scott having totaled a league-worst seven blown saves in 26 chances, there was some expectation that the Dodgers would land an established closer to replace him at last week's trade deadline. That didn't happen, though, so it seems likely Scott will reclaim the role if he makes it through his rehab without any setbacks.Source: Fabian Ardaya - The Athletic
Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed reliever Kyle Monangai Working with The Second-Team Offense
Kyle Monangai received the "bulk of second-unit carries" in the team's practice on Tuesday, according to CHGO's Mark Carman. A seventh-round pick out of Rutgers, Monangai rushed for 1,279 yards and 13 touchdowns in 11 games in his final season with the Scarlet Knights. The Bears have veteran D'Andre Swift atop their running back depth chart, but it appears that Monangai could be pushing to unseat third-year rusher Roschon Johnson from the RB2 role. Carman noted that Johnson was still being utilized at the goal line, so it's possible that all three backs could play a role in Chicago this season. Monangai would need an injury to Swift to be fantasy-relevant in 2025, but he could emerge as an intriguing late-round handcuff option with a strong preseason.Source: CHGO - Mark Carman
Chicago Bears rookie running back Cole Ragans Playing Catch Up to 120 Feet
Cole Ragans (shoulder) remains on track in his pitching progression and is playing catch up to 120 feet, according to MLB.com. Ragans is recovering from a left rotator-cuff strain that initially landed him on the 15-day injured list on June 11. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 8 and is expected to return in late August, barring a setback. Ragans is making slow progress and could return for the final month of the regular season, but he's running out of time, especially to help out fantasy managers. The 27-year-old southpaw will probably be on a short leash when he returns, too, and there's even the possibility he returns in a relief role. After being a first-time All-Star in 2024, it's been a very disappointing season for Ragans. He ran into bad luck in his 10 starts with a 5.18 ERA (2.43 FIP) while striking out 76 and walking 16.Source: MLB.com
Kansas City Royals left-hander Mack Hollins Getting First-Team Reps in New England
Mack Hollins has been receiving reps with the first-team offense since returning from the active/physically unable to perform list, according to Evan Lazar of Patriots.com. New England signed Hollins to a two-year contract this past offseason, and he appears to be in line for a starting role. Hollins turns 32 years old in September, and the Patriots will be his sixth team in eight NFL seasons. In 17 games (13 starts) for the Buffalo Bills in 2024, Hollins recorded 31 catches for 378 yards and five touchdowns. Third-year wide receiver Kayshon Boutte could be Hollins' main threat to playing time alongside New England's top two wideouts, Stefon Diggs and DeMario Douglas.Source: Patriots.com - Evan Lazar
New England Patriots wide receiver Ricky Pearsall Dominating Training Camp Practices
Ricky Pearsall has been "nearly unstoppable" during training camp practices in recent days, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner. San Francisco may be leaning heavily on Pearsall to open 2025 with fellow wideouts Brandon Aiyuk (knee) and Jauan Jennings (calf) both battling injuries. A first-round pick in 2024, Pearsall recorded 31 catches for 400 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games as a rookie. The 49ers should also heavily feature tight end George Kittle and running back Christian McCaffrey in the passing game, but Pearsall is undoubtedly the team's WR1 while Aiyuk and Jennings are sidelined.Source: ESPN - Nick Wagoner
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jac Caglianone has Yet to Run
Jac Caglianone (hamstring) has been able to hit and throw but hasn't introduced running into his rehab program yet after landing on the 10-day injured list on July 27 with a strained left hamstring, according to MLB.com. The 22-year-old left-handed slugger took live at-bats against rehabbing right-hander Michael Lorenzen last Thursday and is getting close to potentially going on a minor-league rehab assignment. The former two-way star and sixth overall pick in 2024 out of Florida has struggled in his first taste of the big leagues in 2025, but the elite power is there. Through his first 41 games with KC, he's gone 22-for-150 (.147) with five home runs, 10 RBI and a 34:8 K:BB. When Cags does return from the IL, he could be the team's primary designated hitter to close out the year after the Royals added Randal Grichuk and Mike Yastrzemski at the trade deadline.Source: MLB.com
Kansas City Royals rookie outfielder Tyrone Tracy Jr. the RB1 in New York?
Tyrone Tracy Jr. is listed atop the team's unofficial depth chart at the position. Veteran Devin Singletary is named as New York's RB2, with rookie Cam Skattebo the RB3. As a rookie in 2024, Tracy Jr. played in 17 games (12 starts), recording 1,123 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns on 230 total touches. The Giants used a fourth-round pick on Skattebo in the 2025 draft, leading to speculation about Tracy Jr.'s hold on the starting role. However, Tracy Jr. has reportedly been the clear leader in training camp, particularly with Skattebo (hamstring) battling a hamstring injury. The 25-year-old Tracy Jr. profiles as a high-end RB3 for PPR-scoring fantasy formats.Source: Giants.com - Dan Salomone
