Spencer Arrighetti Roughed Up in Return From Injury
Spencer Arrighetti came off the injured list to make his first start since April 5 on Wednesday. It didn't go well. Facing the Miami Marlins, Arrighetti fell to 1-2 after coughing up five earned runs on a whopping 11 hits over 3 2/3 innings in a 6-4 loss. He threw 88 pitches (56 for strikes) and posted five strikeouts against one walk in his return from a thumb injury that shelved him for four months. The 25-year-old has made three starts this season and notched a 7.42 ERA (4.69 FIP) with a 1.58 WHIP, 13 strikeouts, and six walks in 13 1/3 frames. Arrighetti is scheduled to get the ball again on Tuesday, but he's in for a challenge with the Boston Red Sox coming to town.
