Javier Baez will replace him in center field and bat ninth, and
Trey Sweeney will take shortstop and hit eighth. Perez left the Tigers' 7-4 loss to the Angels on Saturday with a contusion on his right foot after he fouled a ball off himself.. The 25-year-old avoided any major damage, but it's painful enough to keep him out of the starting lineup for at least a day. Perez has hit a solidly above-average .267/.321/.492 with nine homers, 25 RBI, 33 runs scored, and six steals in 212 plate appearances this season.

San Francisco Giants first baseman/designated hitter
Wilmer Flores (hamstring) is returning to the lineup Sunday against Washington Nationals left-hander
MacKenzie Gore. Flores will DH and bat cleanup in his first start since Aug. 1, while
Dominic Smith will take a seat. Flores missed a week with tightness in his left hamstring, but he pinch-hit in Saturday's 4-2 loss and produced a sacrifice fly. The 34-year-old has hit .249/.318/.380 with 12 homers, 60 RBI, and 36 runs scored in 381 plate appearances.

Detroit Tigers ace
Tarik Skubal will make his next start on Thursday against the Minnesota Twins, manager A.J. Hinch told reporters. Skubal had been slated to face the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, but the Tigers' starter for that game is now TBD. In the meantime, they'll start
Chris Paddack on Monday and
Jack Flaherty on Tuesday. As for Skubal, he'll face the Twins for the second time this year after turning in one of his best outings of the year against them on June 29. The left-hander threw seven scoreless, one-hit innings with 13 strikeouts and one walk in a 3-0 victory. Skubal has fanned double-digit hitters eight times this season and gone 11-3 with a 2.35 ERA, a .86 WHIP, and 187:21 K:BB in 145 1/3 innings as he vies for his second straight AL Cy Young Award.

Cincinnati Reds right-hander
Hunter Greene (groin) is expected to come off the 15-day injured list and start Wednesday against the Philadelphia Phillies, according to manager Terry Francona. Greene, out since June 4 with a strained right groin, made his fourth and final rehab start with Triple-A Louisville on Friday and built up to 79 pitches. The 26-year-old posted ace-like numbers before going on the IL, as he put up a 2.72 ERA with a .97 WHIP, 73 strikeouts, and 14 walks in 59 2/3 innings. He'll be a major late-season reinforcement for the Reds and fantasy managers.

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Royals shortstop
Bobby Witt Jr. (back) is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the division-rival Minnesota Twins with a stiff back. Manager Matt Quatraro said Witt woke up with back stiffness on Saturday but was able to play through it. The good news is that Witt will be available off the bench on Sunday if he feels well enough to hit. Fantasy managers should consider Witt day-to-day for now and check back on Monday to see if he's feeling good enough to return for the series opener against the Washington Nationals. Maikel Garcia is starting at the 6 and batting second, with
Adam Frazier at third base and hitting fifth against Twins right-hander
Jose Urena. Witt went hitless on Saturday to snap a modest five-game hitting streak.

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that outfielder
Aaron Judge's (elbow) throwing program is moving in a "pretty good direction." The skipper is "optimistic" that Judge will return to duties in right field soon, although Boone didn't want to share a target date. The manager said on Saturday that there was no timetable for Judge to return to the outfield, but this update makes it seem like it could happen early next week. The 33-year-old reigning American League MVP recently returned from a trip to the injured list due to a right elbow flexor strain, and the Yankees are easing him in as the designated hitter until he's cleared to play the field. He's DHing and hitting third in Sunday's series finale against the Astros. Since returning from the IL last week, Judge has gone 3-for-12 with an RBI and two runs scored in four starts.

Minnesota Twins outfielder
Trevor Larnach (side) is starting in right field and will hit sixth in Sunday's series finale against the division-rival Kansas City Royals and rookie right-hander
Ryan Bergert. A side injury kept Larnach from starting in each of the last three games, but he'll return for the final game of the weekend. The 28-year-old served as a pinch-hitter in Saturday's loss. Larnach is hitting .245/.319/.412 with a career-high-tying 15 home runs, 48 RBI and 49 runs scored in his 105 games played in his fifth year in the big leagues with the Twins. He's gotten off to a good start in the month of August, going 6-for-16 with two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored in five games played. Larnach has also been much better against righties this year, going 78-for-298 (.262) against them with 14 of his 15 home runs on the year.

Miami Marlins pitching prospect
Thomas White continued to impress on Saturday, tossing six shutout innings for Double-A Pensacola. The Marlins' top prospect allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out nine batters. Through seven starts at Double-A, the southpaw has posted a 2.05 ERA and 1.14 WHIP, and in 16 starts in total, including his starts at High-A, he's recorded a 2.47 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 102 strikeouts in 65 2/3 innings pitched (26.1 percent K-BB%). The 6-foot-5 hurler is the second-highest ranked left-handed pitcher on MLB.com's top prospects list and looks well on his way to a potential 2026 major league debut. With that type of strikeout stuff, he should be stashed away in dynasty formats.

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop prospect
Aidan Miller continued his hot stretch of hitting on Saturday, going 2-for-4 with a double, two walks, two RBI, four runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases at Double-A Reading. The Phils' second-ranked prospect has now hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games, going 16-for-43 (.372) over that stretch. Saturday's game also marked the fifth straight game in which he stole a base. The performance pushed his season-long slash line to .237/.356/.380 with nine home runs and 44 steals. With a hot bat, the 21-year-old could see some time at Triple-A before the season is over in order to prepare him for next season. The right-handed hitter has plenty of pop to go along with a good eye (14.3 percent BB%) and a ton of speed, all of which make for impactful fantasy assets, so keep an eye on him as a major league debut could come as soon as next season.

Tampa Bay Rays shortstop prospect
Carson Williams belted his 19th home run of the season on Saturday in a 1-for-4 day at the plate at Triple-A Durham. The Rays' top-ranked prospect can clearly make hard contact, and even looked like he was beginning to hit for average from mid-June to mid-July when he hit .308 over a 22-game stretch, but since then he's 9-for-55 (.163) while the strikeouts continue to plague him, recording 22 strikeouts to just five walks over the last 15 games. For the season, the former first-rounder is slashing .212/.312/.426 with a 34.5 percent strikeout rate. If he can get going, maybe the Rays call him up in September, otherwise, he should make a debut in 2026, although he may get the call for his glove more than his bat.

Seattle Mariners outfielder
Julio Rodriguez came up clutch for this team during Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Rodriguez got the fun started off early with a two-run home run in the first inning. He continued his hot swinging with a solo blast in the third inning as well. He finished this game 2-for-5 with two homers and three RBI in the win. Rodriguez now has 23 homers on the season and 22 steals to his name. That being said, Rodriguez could very well get to a 30-30 season if everything keeps going his way.

Cal Raleigh has been in a bit of a slump recently, but was able to make some noise during Saturday's game. Raleigh helped extend the lead with a three-run home run off right-hander
Joe Boyle in the third inning. It was his 44th long ball of the season, which now puts him in third place for single season homers by a catcher. Raleigh put together an unbelievable first half of the season, but has really struggled to find the same magic since then. There is still plenty of time for Raleigh to keep mashing and earn himself the single-season homer record for catchers.
