Bobby Witt Jr. Resting on Sunday
Bobby Witt Jr. is getting a rare rest day in Sunday's series finale against the division-rival Minnesota Twins at Target Field. Maikel Garcia will shift over to shortstop and will hit second against Twin right-hander Jose Urena. Veteran Adam Frazier will play third and hit fifth for the Royals. It's just the second time all year that Witt has not started a game. The 25-year-old went 0-for-4 on Saturday in Minnesota to snap a modest five-game hitting streak. Witt remains one of the best and most exciting players in all of baseball and is slashing .284/.340/.493 in 2025 with an .833 OPS, 17 home runs, 65 RBI, 71 runs scored and 30 stolen bases in 458 at-bats. In eight games so far in the month of August, Witt has struggled a bit with a .226 average (7-for-31), but he still has two homers, a double, triple, five RBI and two steals.
