Nationals Sign Davey Martinez To Contract Extension

The Washington Nationals signed manager Davey Martinez to an undisclosed two-year contract extension on Monday, and they are close to signing general manager Mike Rizzo to a new deal as well, according to sources briefed on the discussions. Martinez, 58, will also receive a club option for a third year. The 62-year-old Rizzo is expected to sign a deal of similar length. The rebuilding Nationals are 23-14 since starting the year 34-54, and they are currently 12-5 of late. Martinez is 378-455 (.454 winning percentage) since taking over as the skipper in 2018.
