Buffalo Sabres defenseman Michael Kesselring (undisclosed) must likely sit out Thursday's season opener against the New York Rangers. He has been labeled as week-to-week, and Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff announced that Kesselring will be re-evaluated next week. The 25-year-old blue-liner sustained an undisclosed injury during Wednesday's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, which will delay his official debut with the Sabres. Kesselring was acquired in the offseason in a deal that sent JJ Peterka to Utah. Last season, he played all 82 games for Utah, recording 29 points (seven goals and 22 assists), along with 150 shots, 67 blocks, 87 hits, and a plus-four rating. While Kesselring plays an effective game, he does not particularly excel in any specific fantasy categories.--Taavi Pailk
