Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon grabbed a new record to his name on Sunday with a two-assist effort in a 3-1 victory over San Jose. He finished December with 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 15 games, which is the highest-scoring total a player has ever managed in a single month with the franchise. Peter Stastny held the previous top mark with 28 points from February 1981. With the outing, MacKinnon also extended his franchise record for the longest home scoring streak to start a season to 19 games. The Avalanche superstar has been showing off incredible form and can become only the fifth NHLer ever with a 20-game season-opening home point streak against the Islanders on Tuesday. MacKinnon has racked up 19 goals and 58 points in 37 contests for the entire campaign.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
