Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitching prospect Melvin Hernandez extended his shutout streak on Thursday evening during their contest against Low-A Delmarva. In this game, Hernandez logged seven shutout innings and allowed only three hits. He struck out four and did not serve up any walks. Over his last two outings, leading up to Thursday, Hernandez tossed nine clean innings with just four hits, one walk, and nine punchouts. The 18-year-old has looked quite impressive during his first extended look at Low-A. Last summer, Hernandez tossed just six innings at the level as he spent most of the campaign in the Arizona Complex League. Through 70 2/3 total innings this season, the right-hander has held a 2.17 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his progression as he could earn a taste of High-A later this summer.--Andy SmithRead More News
