Matt Vierling Scratched With Foot Soreness
5 months agoDetroit Tigers third baseman/outfielder Matt Vierling (foot) was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the hosting Los Angeles Angels with left-foot soreness. For now, fantasy managers in deeper leagues should consider Vierling day-to-day and check back to see if he's available for the series opener against the division-rival Minnesota Twins on Tuesday after a scheduled day off on Monday. With Vierling sidelined on Sunday, Justyn-Henry Malloy is starting in left field and is batting eighth against Angels left-hander Tyler Anderson. The 27-year-old Vierling should see most of his time moving forward in the outfield now that Giovanny Urshela is at third base. In 263 at-bats in 2024, he's hitting .251/.287/.441 with a career-high-tying 10 home runs and 33 RBI in 74 games in his second year in Motown.
