11 months agoYankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka was solid in Sunday's outing against Boston. Despite being pulled before pitching five full innings, Tanaka struck-out a season-high, nine, and allowed only one run. His pitch count ran up to 97 and was unfortunately pulled in the bottom of the fifth. Tanaka allowed a few hits (six), but his only real blemish was one pitch Mookie Betts crushed out of the ballpark. Despite taking a no-decision, Tanaka's start was valuable to owners who needed some strikeouts to win their matchup; so chalk this outing up as a positive. Tanaka's next start comes at home against the lowly Texas Rangers next weekend. Hopefully, he can keep this momentum going as he has not allowed more than three runs since returning from the disabled list in mid-July.--Kev Mahserejian - RotoBaller
