Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Sitting On Wednesday
4 months agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is sitting out on Wednesday against the Miami Marlins at loanDepot Park. It appears to be a normal day of rest for Gurriel, who hit a home run in the last game of the series on Tuesday in Miami. Pavin Smith will draw into the starting lineup in left field and will bat fifth for the Snakes against Marlins right-hander Roddery Munoz. The 30-year-old Gurriel is currently on a three-game hitting streak and is batting .278 (15-for-54) with a homer, a double, three RBI, seven walks and a stolen base in 15 games so far in the month of August. After a scheduled off day on Thursday, Gurriel should be back in left field for Arizona on Friday at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox. Smith, who hits from the left side, has only appeared in 31 games in 2024 and has hit .258 (17-for-66) with three home runs and 16 RBI in 73 trips to the plate.
