Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Not On Wild-Card Roster
2 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays left outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (hamstring) off their roster for the Wild-Card Series against the Seattle Mariners this weekend. Gurriel isn't healthy enough to play in the first round of the playoffs for the Jays. In Gurriel's place, the team decided to carry an extra catcher in Gabriel Moreno. It remains to be seen if Gurriel will be ready to return for the AL Division Series against the Houston Astros if they advance past the Mariners. Gurriel hasn't played for Toronto since Sept. 7, and he finished the 2022 regular season hitting .291/.343/.400 with five home runs, 52 RBI, 52 runs scored and three stolen bases in his 453 at-bats.
