Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Homers In Third Straight Game
9 months agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. homered in his third straight game in Saturday's 9-4 loss to the Rockies. He also belted a double, going 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, and a run scored in the contest. The 30-year-old is now 6-for-13 (.462) to begin the year, with eight RBI and five runs scored. Last season Gurriel had the lowest batting average of his career (.261), but had the highest Contact% of his career (83.5%) and with a BABIP of .282 (the first time in his career it was below .300) it appears his low BA was a product of bad luck. Nevertheless, he had 24 home runs and 82 RBI last season, both of which appear to be repeatable in 2024, and combine that with a rebound in BA, Gurriel has all of the makings of a value pick primed to outperform their ADP.
