German Marquez Expected to Return Friday
German Marquez (biceps) threw a bullpen session on Wednesday and is expected to come off the 15-day injured list to start against the Chicago Cubs on Friday. It's been a little over a month since the Rockies placed Marquez on the IL on July 21 with right biceps tendinitis. The 30-year-old made 20 starts before then and went 3-11 with a 5.67 ERA, a 1.64 WHIP, and 73:35 K:BB in 98 1/3 innings. Marquez debuted in the bigs with the Rockies in 2016, but the former All-Star's long run with the franchise is likely nearing an end. As a soon-to-be free agent, Marquez will "almost certainly" sign elsewhere in the offseason, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.
