Cal Quantrill to Start Thursday
Cal Quantrill (calf) will make his second start as a member of the club on Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Quantrill, claimed from the Miami Marlins on Aug. 21, had to leave his Braves debut last Saturday with calf cramps. He threw 4 2/3 innings of three-run, five-hit ball in that game and took the loss in a 9-2 blowout against the New York Mets. The 30-year-old has gone 4-11 with a 5.51 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, and 85:35 K:BB in 114 1/3 frames this season. Quantrill has struggled mightily in two starts this year versus the Phillies, who have teed off on him for 10 runs on 11 hits and three walks (two strikeouts) over 7 1/3 innings.
