Jose Quintana Back in the Win Column
Jose Quintana fired six shutout innings in Saturday's 9-0 win over the Minnesota Twins. The Colombian native allowed three hits and struck out one while issuing four free passes to improve to 5-2 through ten starts. Quintana landed just 52 of 90 pitches for strikes, but was the beneficiary of plenty of soft contact in his longest start since Apr. 22. It was his first win in nearly two months. The veteran sports a strong 2.98 ERA over his first 54 1/3 innings. However, his 1.40 WHIP is more indicative of his performance and underlying metrics (4.63 xFIP). He'll get a favorable matchup in the visiting Colorado Rockies his next time out.
