Jon Gray Strikes Out 12 Rays On Wednesday
3 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Jon Gray had his best outing of the year thus far in Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He pitched seven innings and allowed three hits, two walks and one earned run while striking out a season-high 12 batters. Unfortunately, he wound up with a no decision in the game. Gray's first year with the Rangers has been a bit underwhelming overall. Over eight starts, he's gone 1-2 with a 4.83 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP and a 22.2% strikeout rate. Wednesday's quality start was just his second quality start of the year. The 30-year-old could be a hot waiver wire pickup this weekend as he lines up for two starts next week. He'll face the Cleveland Guardians on Monday and the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.
