Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson had two assists in Friday's 5-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. He collected both helpers during the first period, which Washington won 3-0. After he had a five-game slump, someone pushed the right buttons on Carlson, as he has notched five points (one goal, four assists) across the last three games. Carlson has been a 50-point guy in recent seasons, but in 2025-26, he has a chance to reach 60 points for a fifth time in his career. In 41 outings, Carlson has tallied nine goals and 25 assists. He is also a busy man in the defensive zone, recording 59 blocks this season.--Taavi Pailk
