Jharel Cotton Throwing In Extended Spring Training
Jharel Cotton (elbow), who is coming back from Tommy John surgery, has been throwing in extended spring training. Manager Bob Melvin thinks Cotton will get up to three innings in his next outing. The 27-year-old didn't pitch at all last season but could help the A's rotation out at some point this year. He went 9-10 with a 5.58 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 7.3 K/9 in 24 starts (129 innings). The right-hander will be an option in deeper leagues as a matchup-based streamer if he pitches out of the rotation later this season.
