Jake Cronenworth Rarely Misses
4 years agoSan Diego Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth, who entered Thursday's series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates hitting .333 with three doubles and a triple, ranks second in baseball with a 3.2 percent whiff rate. He finished Thursday's game 2-for-2 with two doubles, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored in the 8-3 win. Cronenworth was a two-way player at Michigan, and having a pitcher's mindset has certainly helped with his approach at the plate as a hitter. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter is now batting .358 on the young season and has shown a great approach at the plate for the Friars. With multi-position eligibility, Cronenworth has become a valuable commodity. However, he could lose a little playing time, starting this weekend, with shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) set to return from the injured list.
