J.D. Davis Suffers Shoulder Strain Tuesday
1 year agoSan Francisco Giants third baseman J.D. Davis (shoulder) suffered a left-shoulder strain in Tuesday night's loss to the San Diego Padres, according to the team. Before departing the contest, Davis had a double in his only at-bat. He was replaced at third base by Tyler Fitzgerald. Davis injured himself during a slide into third base in the first inning. With less than a week left to play in the 2023 regular season, there's a good chance the 30-year-old has played his last game of the year. Wilmer Flores (knee) is also hobbled, so if Davis cannot return this year, Fitzgerald would likely see the majority of playing time at the hot corner through Sunday's season finale. Davis entered Tuesday's contest hitting .246 (118-for-479) with 18 home runs, 22 doubles, a triple, 69 RBI and 61 runs scored in 143 games in his first full year with the Gigantes.
