New York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin stopped 38 of the 39 shots he faced en route to defeating the Boston Bruins on Thursday evening. The Islanders were heavily outshot in this contest but Sorokin was able to lead the way. His lone mistake came in the final frame when David Pastrnak found the back of the net on a wrist shot. However, Sorokin was able to shut the door for the remainder of the period to lead the Islanders to the victory. This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for Sorokin as he carried a four-game losing streak into Thursday's contest. During this streak, the 29-year-old held a .818 save percentage with a 5.02 GAA. However, before his slump, he carried an impressive seven-game winning streak where he posted a 1.16 GAA. He will look to start another streak on Saturday afternoon against the Nashville Predators.--Andy Smith
