Hunter Renfrow Out of Retirement, Ready for Week 1
Hunter Renfrow finds himself third on the team's depth chart. The veteran will look to make an impact against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. The 2021 Pro Bowler retired in 2024 due to ulcerative colitis, but the Panthers, desperate for wide receiver help after trading Adam Thielen and placing Jalen Coker (quadriceps) on IR, brought him back. Renfrow is expected to play out of the slot, a position where he thrived in 2021, catching 103 passes for over 1,000 yards. Now 29, it remains to be seen if he is an elite route runner, but he could make an immediate impact given the lack of depth. His Week 1 matchup against a weak Jaguars pass defense is favorable. While he should be left on the waiver wire for now, fantasy managers should monitor the box scores to see if he has anything left in the tank as he comes in as WR98 in the latest RotoBaller rankings for Week 1.
